HipHopDX – This week in Hip Hop, ScHoolboy Q dropped CrasH Talk. Also, news of YNW Melly possibly facing the death penalty made headlines and lastly, R. Kelly‘s legal team blamed a recent loss to one of his sexual assault court cases on Kelly’s illiteracy.

ScHoolboy Q Drops “CrasH Talk”

ScHoolboy Q’s CrasH Talk dropped on Friday (April 26). YG, Kid Cudi, 21 Savage, 6LACK, Ty Dolla $ign and Lil Baby all make an appearance on the project. It was initially pushed back in honor of the late Nipsey Hussle.

Q recently spoke with Vulture about the lukewarm love his singles normally get from people on social media, but then go on to be Billboard hits. He names “Studio” featuring BJ The Chicago Kid and “THat Part” featuring Kanye West as two of the tracks he got flack for.

“Oh yeah. ‘Kanye wasted a verse,'” Q recalled. “They were saying I paid Kanye. Bro, I never paid nobody for a verse in my life. It’s like little nerd dweebs […] They hate every single I drop.

“I don’t get it. Whatever, the shit always crack. Every fucking single I drop goes platinum. I’m just trying to figure it out. What do you niggas really hate? Stop listening to it if you hate it.”

YNW Melly Faces Death Penalty

The State of Florida is fully confident up-and-coming rapper YNW Melly murdered his two friends, YNW Sakchaser and YNW Juvy, for financial gain.

Melly and associate YNW Bortlen allegedly staged a drive-by in the murder of their two friends before dropping them off at an ER.

Following a full investigation, state officials determined Melly’s actions to be “cold, calculated and premeditated.”

They are reportedly seeking the death penalty, according to TMZ.

R. Kelly Misses Court Appearance

After failing to respond to a civil lawsuit filed by an alleged underage sexual abuse victim, R. Kelly’s illiteracy is the reason to blame for the disgraced singer’s missed court case earlier this week.

He was served papers while in Cook County Jail and apparently didn’t understand what they meant, so he ended up missing his court appearance.

The legal docs filed by his attorneys say he “suffers from a learning disability that adversely affects his ability to read” and that he was “overwhelmed.”

They are asking the judge to reconsider.

J.J. Fad spoke with HipHopDX for an exclusive interview and member JB spoke about her growing relationship as a young artist with Public Enemy’s Chuck D while on Run’s House Tour back in 1988.

“There is a million stories from that tour,” JB told DX. “I will tell you that me and Chuck D got real close. I admired him so much because I’m younger so I hung on to every single word he said. And I remember one night, I forget what city we were in, but we took this long walk — just the two of us.

“I literally fell in love with him that night and it was just because of a conversation. He just told me things like, ‘Do this, do that, make sure that you’re always the same, don’t change.’ Just knowledge. He just kicked knowledge to me and I was just like, ‘Oh my gosh, I love this guy.’”
