Several months after Mac Miller’s death, ScHoolboy Q is finally ready to release his next album. He made the announcement via Twitter on Monday (April 15), shortly after appearing at Coachella Valley Arts & Music Festival over the weekend.
“NEW ALBUM ‘CrasH Talk,'” he wrote alongside a video clip. He also revealed a release date of April 26.
Q was expected to drop the project months ago but halted its release following Miller’s passing. During a concert last September — the same month Miller died — he told the audience, “With my nigga gone right now, I just don’t feel right putting out an album. As y’all can tell, I’m not my real self right now.”
CrasH Talk marks the long awaited follow-up to 2016’s Blank Face LP, the Top Dawg Entertainment artist’s fourth studio album. The project debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 upon its release with roughly 74,000 total album equivalent units sold in its inaugural week.

Schoolboy has not kept with the times imo
Huge fan of ScHoolboy, but I had faith he’d keep gangsta rap alive. TDE sounds like they’re trying to match up to the party trap style because it’s popular.
Please have some G anthems and block stories as you do so well (Hoover Street, What They Want, By Any Means, John Muir, Tookie Knows II, etc)
Q is in another mood bruh
Its good we’re not listening to the same music all the time
Also this album has an unique dark vibe witch follows throughout the project
3.5
If Tupac was alive and came back, and made an album with 21 savage, Rhianna, Ariana Grande, and Lil Yachty, you’d justify that shit lmao. As a giant Q fan, I can agree with most, that this album sucks. It’s radio junk. Wouldn’t matter WHO made it, I’d still say it’s crap. This album will never stand to his previous works.
There’s nothing wrong w any of those artists loser. Just enjoy the music & stop tryna seem edgy for the innanet. Q gave us a good ass ScHoolboy Q album.
In not trying to be edgy lol. I’m just a very dissapointed fan, making my voice heard, so hopefully he goes back to his roots. Long time Q fans wants west coast gangster rap.
been anticipating this album for a while now but idk something seems off. for as long as it’s been taking the direction seems a tad unclear compared to his albums of past. hope cuhz not running outta gas
I really hope Kendrick shakes these artists up again with a new sound, because everyone’s copying each other
Where are the real producers? It’s their fault.
Its more of a bad choice of production thing. Producers get paid to provide the sound rappers want, and rappers want trasH. But yeah production wise TDE albums went downhill after TPAB. Especially last 2 years or so its been alot of the same weak unoriginal trap shit.
NOT FEELING ANYTHING I HEARD OFF THIS JOINT SO FAR. THE TRAVIS SCOTT SHIT IS TERRIBLE. HOPEFULLY HE MANAGES TO COME THROUGH WITH SOME HEAT.
Heard CrasH?
The album sucks. Reminds me Jay Rocks last album. Pop, radio, junk…. Really sad, considering Jay Rock and Schoolboy Q were the best of modern west coast gangster rap. TDE in general has gone pop/radio, And it’s very disappointing.
You’re just an old head that can’t move with the changes, try to relate to someone else and you’ll open your mind.
I’m not an old head, I’m 17 lol. My point stands…. This is POP RAP. Schoolboy Q fans like west coast gangster rap and intellectual hip-hop.
This isn’t creative. I hate people like you who write off bad projects as “trying something new, get with the times bro”. No, it’d garbage, and won’t be rated highly along Blank Face, Oxymoron, habits and contradictions, etc…
Just because your 17 doesn’t mean you don’t have an OLD HEAD. It has nothing to do with your age.
I agree Oxymoron goes way harder but just because someone goes outside the parameters of their old style does not mean that the music is trash. It’s not specifically made for you.
Get with the times bro…
Old head or not, the lyrical basis of this album is not near the quality of Oxymoron or Blank face. It’s far worse in terms of lyrical quality. I think the flow is unoriginal, and copying everything else. I prefer rappers who have their own signature flow, like Kendrick did, ludacris, Jay-Z, etc… You keep saying “get with the times” lol. Good music is TIMELESS. That’s why an album like GKMC was able to harness so many old-school hip-hop elements, and still be a huge hit. Argue all you want, but Crash Talk shows off far less talent than Qs previous albums, and speaking on a technical level, the lyrical topics and concepts are far less creative than his other works. This Crash Talk album is Q copying styles of others…. Other Q albums were his own style.
Totally agree … the first two Jay Rock albums were hard AF and the last record was a disappointment to say the least.
Album was great compared to blank face. Crash is probably my fav Q song ever
Not bad considering how people been trashing this album 3.5/5 even before it got released.
ffs.
Sorry but the album is a huge disappointment. Just like Jay Rock’s last album. I don’t know what TDE is doing lately but they obviously reviewed their level of requirement as far as the quality of their music.
Blank Face was dope as f***. But Crash talk is really not doin it for me. It’s a 2/5
Your comment is basically the same as mine below haha, you followed it word for word almost. That’d be cool if it was on accident. We think the same homie.
don’t give a shit bout your comment
They don’t copy my shit dipshit
Nobody tried to copy your shit dumbfuck
Nobody tried to copy your shit dumbfuck
it’s an ‘ok’ album. No lyrics worth remembering but it’s easy listening. Wished Cudi had more contribution to his feature. Thought for a second I heard Kendrick and ended up getting hyped for nothing.J
Just give us the TDE album already with all four of em and features of Lance Skywalker and Zacari
They should’ve done the black hippy album when they all were amazing. Kendrick got annoying as hell with his high pitched and poppy voice. Jay rock went pop. Q went radio. And soul… Just can’t seen to touch the quality of his former albums.
I agree with what u said about an soul but Jay Rock went pop?? Redemption? That was pop?
Why do all these west coast rappers try to sound like trap rappers and have features with nothing but trap rappers? I want to hear West Coast ish, not 21 Savage and Travis Scott features. 2/5
Those tde boys going downward do you see the bums featured on this album
CrasH Talk album…..Yeah, that’s bitch shit
Wow….this album sucks… WTF!?! So disappointed. How does Q and Jay Rock get to release albums and Ab Soul is locked in the basement.
ab soul is weak.
Fuck you brah (nah I’m kiddin), Soulo is a lyrical beast though.
Ab-soul is weak NOW. After Control System he went downhill. But Control System and earlier, he was amazing.
More like TrasH Talk. Horrible compared to his first two albums
He came out with 4 albums before this. Only real fans know
I know that… that was my point…his first two albums were way better than this one
Generally speaking, people do not consider early, non studio albums, to be albums. People consider first major label debut to be the first album. People say Kendrick has 3 albums. They don’t say more, and don’t include his many previous works, like OD, minor of the year, and multiple others.
Just like Ab-souls work before Control System isn’t considered to be in his list of albums.
I see why this album went thru 3 versions, bro gotta make another one cuz blankface was almost just as mediocre as crash talk
Blank face was good, idk wtf you sucking on
preach, Blank face was solid
Ain’t solid mediocre?? Anybody can make an average album it just seem like a decent decline compared to other works
First impression of Blank Face was not so good… As I heard it more times, I’ve grown to really enjoy it. Older Q has great playback value for years and years. Crash Talk SUCKS. I can’t get down to anything TDE has done lately. I disliked Jay Rocks last album Redemption. I didn’t really like DAMN. . Absouls last great album was Control system, which was 10/10. TDE has gone radio and pop. Kendrick’s voice is way too high pitched and whiny now, and he’s just plain annoying now. This Q album is radio pop junk, as was Jay Rocks. How did the best rappers from the west in decades get so bad so quickly? Kendrick was like a modern Tupac, now not even close. Q was like a west coast 50 cent. Absoul was super original and fun. Jay Rock was straight west coast gangster rap. Now, it’s all damn radio music.
a very average album…little involvement from the TDE camp outside of production – just your typical features like any rap album of 2019
Album is so bad that it makes me really want to drink Numb Numb Juice
It’s a solid album. I agree that there are too many stereotypical features though.
I fw this album
My Recycle Bin said the same thing.
first off album sucks , 2ndly im convinced schkoolboy q is just label filler in between Kendrick lamar albums
I agree this album def not his best work it’s actually disappointing but his last album was fire and his first was decent. I wouldn’t call him filler just yet. He can make good music. I just hope he hasn’t lost it or fallen off yet.
I hope he pulls a Anderson Paak and releases “the real” album 6 months down the line. This shit ain’t it.
Lmao
Clearly if you are under 30, this album is not for you. The sonic direction does not cater to younger audiences or anyone who is used to pop rap.
Unreal this generation crap..they call HipHpop trap crap shit..evan how they dress…the beats weack as fuck ! Just listen to 50 Cent – In da club (instrumental) practice and learn.
