Missy Elliott is the first female rapper to be nominated for the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The innovative recording artist created music that changed the music atmosphere in the late 90s alongside her longtime friend and decorated producer Timbaland. If inducted, she will share the honor with fellow Hip Hop luminaries JAY-Z and Jermaine Dupri.

Elliott penned hits for the likes of Whitney Houston and Beyonce while also securing tons of Hot 100 Billboard hits such as “Lady Marmalade.” She will be in the running for induction along with TLC’s songwriter Dallas Austin and Mariah Carey.

“I am Humbly Grateful to be nominated with so many other AMAZING writers,” Missy tweeted. “Congratulations to all of them also.”
