After Kodak Black’s June release from the Broward County Jail, the Florida rapper quickly got back to work on his music. Evidently, it’s paid off and his latest album, Project Baby 2, has hit the Billboard 200 at #2, following closely behind the #1 album, Brand New’s Science Fiction.
A$AP Ferg’s “Still Striving” mixtape failed to crack the Top 10, while Dave East’s Def Jam release, Paranoia: A True Story, was able to settle in the Top 5, landing at #5 for the week ending August 24.
Kodak Black Debuts His Baby
Kodak Black popped up at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards in Inglewood, California Sunday night (August 27), where he was nominated for Best New Artist. Although he didn’t nab the trophy, his new mixtape, Project Baby 2, is likely something for him to celebrate. With 49,847 total album equivalent units moved (8,407 in pure album sales and a streaming count of 58,601,192), his highly anticipated sequel to 2013’s Project Baby debuted at #2. His inaugural full-length studio album, Painting Pictures, peaked at #3 in April, selling 71,000 total album equivalent units in its first week.
