Fat Joe and Remy Ma’s “All The Way Up” remix with JAY-Z could’ve featured even more star power, according to Joey Crack. During an interview on Complex’s Open Late With Peter Rosenberg, Joe detailed how Drake almost ended up appearing on the hit single.

“I got a FaceTime call maybe three different times while ‘All The Way Up’ was out,” the D.I.T.C. member told Rosenberg. “And it was your man, the 6 God, Drake. And he called me three different occasions out of nowhere. ‘Yo send me the instrumental.'”

Although Joe would’ve loved to add Drizzy to the song, he made a promise to JAY-Z that prevented it from happening.

“When I had told Hov we doing the song, he said, ‘Look Joe — it means so much to our history between me and you — let’s not put nobody else on the song,'” the veteran MC revealed. “He’s not referring to Drake. It could’ve been Kanye [West]. 50 Cent was asking to get on the remix, everybody. ‘All The Way Up’ was big.”

“All The Way Up,” which was released in 2016, was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 2017. The single peaked at No. 27 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Joe’s first Top 40 hit since 2007 and Remy’s highest-charting track of her career.

Putting Drake on the song could’ve made it bigger, but Joe stood firm and kept Hov as the remix’s sole guest.

“I had to keep my word,” he explained. “My word is everything. So when I told JAY-Z, ‘Nah, nobody else on the song,’ I had to keep my word. But man, I wish it was JAY-Z, Drake, Fat Joe and Remy.”

Hov and Drizzy have collaborated on multiple songs throughout the past 10 years, including “Off That,” “Light Up,” “Pound Cake/ Paris Morton Music 2” and “Talk Up.”
