RZA Claims GZA Is The Best MC Of All Time

RZA has claimed that his fellow Wu-Tang Clan legend, GZA, is the greatest MC of all time.

Speaking on Drink Champs, the iconic rapper and producer was asked to compare Nas and GZA, which he was reluctant to do.

He said: “In which way? They’re both very powerful brothers.”

RZA then expanded his thoughts by saying: “For MC-ing, my favorite, best MC is the GZA. I don’t think no MC could beat the GZA. I think what GZA has written for hip-hop, no other MC can compare.”

He then compared the “Liquid Swords” titan against various other rappers: “Even if you go look at Rakim, who is one of the greatest, to most people, one of the greatest. Nas is one of the greatest. If you go look at what GZA offered to hip hop, look at what he spawned. He spawned me, Meth, Rae, Ghost — these are all from GZA, the enlightener.”

The Wu-Tang Clan recently announced that they were getting back into the video game business.

The legendary rap group previously released Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style in 1999, a game that went on to become a cult classic.

Now they’ve announced a cooperative action RPG called Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver, which allows up to four players to join together to protect their home of Shaolin.

Over the course of the game, the player is required to find each member of the Wu-Tang Clan, all of whom have gone missing.

While all members of the Clan will be in the game, it has not been confirmed if any of the group will be playable characters.

The Wu are currently on their final ever tour, which kicked off earlier this month and will run for 27 dates across North America.

RZA shared a statement about the tour.

“Wu-Tang Clan has shown the world many chambers throughout our career; this tour is called ‘The Final Chamber,’” he began. “This is a special moment for me and all my Wu brothers to run around the globe together one more time and spread the Wu swag, music, and culture. Most importantly to touch our fans and those who have supported us throughout the years.

“On this tour we’re playing songs we’ve never played before to our audience and me and our production team have designed a Wu-Tang show unlike anything you’ve ever seen. And to top it off we’ve got the amazing Run the Jewels on our side.”

    1. GZA is a nerd he doesn’t use the n-word in his raps, does he even curse? Fuckin chess playin nerd. Ain’t nobody checkin’ for that fool except spelling bee nerds and math freaks and backbag weirdos.

      1. You never listened to OB4CL! If you did then you would know that Genius uses the word in the first two words of his verse.

      2. you obviously didnt listen to the song about clock radio speakers and <> wearing mark 5 sneakers and lyrics being weak, yeah?

    2. RZA my favorite producer, Wu my favorite group. They are extremely awesome…. GZA is awesome… but after liquid swords & Beneath the surface he tanked out. Nas is the GOAT. Gza not close, but that’s his cousin, his mentor and crazy sharp… but liquid swords alone can’t touch Illmatic… nas has 10-12 awesome albums. GZA has two, excluding his WU works. But I luv GZA. No shade….

    3. GZA is a legend but certainly not the best ever. I got KRS One and Redman over GZA. In fact we need Return of the Boom Bap Part 2 from KRS One and DJ Premier! Redman mentioned he has a straight up hip hop version of Muddy Waters Too. We need that as well!

    4. Liquid swords is arguably one of the best albums ver created both from a production and lyric standpoint. I’m ok with him making this statement.

    5. Liquid Swords one of my favourites of all time the whole atmosphere is this 90s NYC. But no way… Nas Illmatic and It Was Written are so much more even Stillmatic is 100x Beneath the Surface… and compare GZA’s cameo on Cuban Linx Guillotine Swordz and Nas on Verbal Intercouse… Nas is the best to over do it.

    6. Crazy It Was Written fact:
“D’Angelo and Method Man were originally supposed to appear on the album but never made the studio sessions”

Method man & Nas 1996 on some Rza beat

    7. Loved the interview Rza is very sharp
Never knew Ol Dirty made the beat for Damager and worked on the 2nd Gravediggaz project while working on Wu Forever in the same studio different floor. Could have take some beats from that project for Wu Forever like the last songs on disc 2 🤦🏻‍♂️ would make it a 100% classic

    8. Like RZA is really gonna say something like yeah GZA is cool, but Nas is better. GZA in his prime was a serious MC.
