Rejoice & Listen To A Tribe Called Quest’s New LP “We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your service”

As 2016 nears its close, there has been much to weep about the year in retrospect. The loss of several music legends, racial injustices and civic travesties that continue to divide and conquer communities in America and abroad, as well as various other deplorable moments in the news that have shaken lives across the world. But the Hip Hop community can curve their pain by enjoying the once-improbable A Tribe Called Quest reunion album We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your service released today (November 10).

The iconic Queens, New York quartet of Q-Tip, the late Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammed, and Jarobi couldn’t have collectively arrived at a better time with their final album. The 16-track opus, their first in 18 years since their fifth LP The Love Movement, follows in the wake of the most shocking presidential election upset in modern history.

ATCQ’s sixth album arrived one year after their 25th anniversary of their classic debut album People’s Instinctive Travels Through The Paths of Rhythm. In an interview with the New York Times, the group’s lead MC/producer Q-Tip stated that this final album was inspired from the positive energy to continue following their first TV appearance in 19 years when they performed together on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in November 2015.

You can enjoy the features from Kendrick Lamar, Sir Elton John, André 3000, and Jack White as well on the finale of their legendary discography above. You can purchase the album on iTunes.

A Tribe Called Quest is preparing to make its swan song with the release of We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your service.

The group’s official Twitter account shared the album’s cover art less than a week after announcing the project is set for a November 11 release.

The We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your service cover art pays homage to Tribe’s sophomore album, The Low End Theory and brings the project into the modern era with a woman taking a selfie.

The group’s last LP, which will feature new Phife Dawg verses, is also set to feature André 3000, Kendrick Lamar, Busta Rhymes and Elton John.

In August, Epic Records exec L.A. Reid teased all of us by revealing that A Tribe Called Quest had one more album to put out after founding member Phife Dawg passed away in March.

Today (October 27), Q-Tip confirmed a Hip Hop fan’s greatest dream, that the group did in fact reunite for a final album. The New York legend posted a handwritten note to A Tribe Called Quest’s social media to share that the four members, including Jarobi White and Ali Shaheed Muhammad, felt inspired by performing together for the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon a year ago and also touched by the Paris bombings. So they hit the studio and cooked up the final A Tribe Called Quest album.

The project features Busta Rhymes and Consequence and is set for a November 11 release date when “we will complete our paths of rhythm.”

    1. Album is everything you expect from Tribe! Phife rocking it just like he always have! Beats just like tribe damn i love it. I wish I’d waited to buy it from amazon for only $5 though! But it’s worth the money so it’s all gravy they deserve it man RIH Phife thank you for your service!

    2. 3 Stacks came thru. Cons and Jarobi repped. Busta on that Busta shit. Phife presence is totally felt. My only complaint is we didnt get a verse from Kanye. Kendrick held his own own as usual.

        1. DEEZ NUTS….spell that …touchscreen error…cd needed samples or better instrumentation…not Maschine or Reason BS…it was so so…should have not dropped because it’s not the quality of the benchmark they set….

    3. THE BEATS THE BEATS THE BEATSSSSSS YESSSSSSS! no more 1,00000 beats per minute with a loop of guys in the back ground going “hey, hey, hey, hey, hey” THIS IS THE REAL MY BROTHERS. LETS BUY THIS ONE TO MAKE IT GO PLATINUM FOR PHIFE!!!!!

    4. Words simply cannot describe how dope this album is. New age and mature organic hip hop. This album is Grammy worthy for sure and has surpassed other candidates for Album of the Year!

    5. Dude… Wtf! DX did y’all delete my post? I had nothing but praise for this album. If y’all did, shit is ridiculous!

      1. fake bs from church niggas… my comment has been deleted for speaking the truth, i would never praise crap cuz i aint a church nigga

    6. This is a very average CD and the beats are very boring. This is far from a classic album, disk 1 is weak and disk 2 is an ok. I need to listen to it more but for a Tribe album it’s very week and far from the standard that they set.

      1. i’m sorry you feel that way…wow….the beats are AMAZING if you ask me…. they aren’t made totally by a computer… maybe you’re not familiar with the sound of an acoustic guitar or any actual live instruments….???? God Bless these poor children….

      2. Psssshh.. you can’t even spell weak right with your weak ass.. Tribe drops a dope album after forever and instead of just appreciating it.. all you wack ass dudes want to be critics.. They ddn’t try to do anything too different or try too hard to keep up with the new shit.. I think the shit sounds a lot more original than half the shit out now.. maybe the beats were not bangers.. but I think we should just be happy to get an album.. it really isn’t that bad.

    7. No growth after 25 years wtf?!! These ninjas are stuck on stupid! Btw that busts rhymes joint was super wack!!!!??

    8. fake bs from church niggas… go listen to the org to see the diff if ur not fam with tribe and my previous comment has been deleted for speaking the truth, i would never praise crap cuz i aint a church nigga

    9. anyone that is saying this album is crap. Don’t comment on hip hop. Stay away from this type of music it’s too much for your fucking pea brain. Go back to your lil Wayne, Gucci mane dumbed down bubble gum pop rap bullshit.

      1. you got fooled and you have no fucking idea what you are talking about, you are even too dumb to smell it, when someone is putting ur nose directly into the mud. can’t you afford any of the previous albums, because this might could help a lot in order to compare? You must be trippin’ to believe that you could tell real hiphopheads, who are able to tell the difference between fake and real, to stay away and leave the field for you copycats, who don’t have a single knowledge about that genre. dream on…

        1. Naw I and just a lot of other people with intelligence know what’s actual genuine and what is actual trash. Seems to me like YOU have a problem comprehending that. Folks who listen to dumbed down rap music are going to say this is a bad album. That was my point. Don’t critique this album or say whether it is good or not if your catolgue of hip hop includes trap music and half of the bums from the south. That’s why hip hop is in such a bad state because half of you motherfuckas say anything is good as long as the beat is great nevermind anything else. Idiot.

          1. i have no fucking doubt that u never ever have heard any original tribe album. period. if u like the lame wannebees u will love it, i promise. and now do some shopping and come back with a fuckin excuse.

            1. Dude shut up. Their first three are at the top with this one right behind it. Beats and love are not better than this due to the problems making them. They were always political. Sampling they have done before on their other work as well this album. Lyrics are on point as well. It’s one thing to run your mouth not being good but if that’s the case back it up with some evidence instead of just like midnight. Low end and peoples.

        2. Naw I and just a lot of other people with intelligence know what’s actual genuine and what is actual trash. Seems to me like YOU have a problem comprehending that. 10. This albums sounds outdated, the beats are too muddy, I could have mixed this album better! Where are the sub frequencies, where is the bass?

The lyrics are also outdated, a bunch of bitter old dudes rapping like it’s 1996.

I give it like 3/10 — its a shame it came out the same time as Trap or Die 3 which is like a 10/10.

      1. If you think this album is wack then you clearly don’t know a damn thing about real Hip Hop. I’ve heard the LP only once and from that alone it’s better then most of the new Rappers out there today. ATCQ are Legends for a reason they know what they’re doing and they represent the Hip Hop culture the right way. They been in the game since what 1990 and they still got it. Creative beats, Rhymes, interesting features, originality etc that’s what we need. Most of the trap Rappers only have beats and Hooks and when they Rap it’s nothing but mumbling you can’t even understand them. After 18 years ATCQ still got it so you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m not saying it’s a Hip Hop classic like their first three albums but it’s definitely a damn good album. You should get your ears checked B. Peace to the ATCQ Fans and RIP Phife Dawg ????

    11. This album makes me so happy. I have to re-listen to it because theres so much to take in. It sounds so different from everything else out and even ftom previous ATCQ albums. This album is what hip hop is all about: positive vibes, lyricism, innovative beats and soul.

    12. I streamed this shit and hell naw, this album is wack, it sounds like a bunch old washed up tramps trying to stay relevant. If I go to the Ford dealship to buy a Mustang I want the lastest 2017, I don’t want some old rusty 1996 Mustang that is about 20 years outdated. The same with rap music, I want hear the latest shit, with the newest producers like Metro Boomin and Zaytoven, not some irrelevant 50 year old men rapping about events from 20 years ago over outdated beats.

      1. I bet you are an ignorant kid. I mean, its obvious you are ignorant, but I’m sure you are also a kid.. “You are old and irrelevant, irrelevant, irrelevant…”
That the only thing kids like you know to say when they dont like something made by an adult

      2. I’m not going to even waste time saying some relevant shit to a herb like you.. I’m just going to tell you to shut the fuck up.. idiot

    13. James the cover with the Girl that looks like a dude is wack!!!!! Even the cover that replaced it wasn’t as good but it’s better then the original. Enough about the cover the album is dope!!!! Boom Bap beats, ill flows, interesting guest appearances and the way they mixed the album was different from other Tribe albums. Give it Four Stars out of Five. Support that real Hip Hop can’t wait to get my Copy on CD.

      Peace
