Metro Boomin made a series of posts on Twitter yesterday (November 9), confronting rappers who he says copy Future‘s music formula. Future released four projects in the span of a year with the Monster, 56 Nightsand Beast Mode mixtapes and his Dirty Sprite 2album.
“Everyday I wake up, new mixtapes are falling out of the sky,” the producer writes for the caption of a picture of Future. “I think we all know where the trend came from lol”
Metro Boomin says that he wishes artists would focus more on the quality of the music and should not expect the same success as the Atlanta rapper simply by pumping out projects.

“Moral of the story is, putting out 5 tapes in a year won’t make you heat up like Future,” he says. “That was just his path. It’s not for everyone.”
Even though Metro Boomin does not name a specific rapper, Young Thug took offense to the comments. Young Thug has released two installments of his Slime Season mixtape series and The Barter 6 this year. He is also preparing a mixtape with Migos and his Hy!£UN35album.
“Hey @MetroBoomin who u referring to ????” Thugger writes. “Put some names on that shit lil boy @MetroBoomin”

He then addresses Future, whom he calls Tito Jackson, Michael Jackson’s brother and member of the Jackson 5 who saw lesser success than the “Billie Jean” singer.
“A nigga music couldn’t ever sound nowhere near mines,” he writes. “((IM MICHEAL)) he’s ((TITO)).”
Young Thug says that despite these comments, he has respect for his fellow Atlanta rapper.

But artists have not put this much music out in years, now artists are dropping tapes every month. Everyone was holding their music b4

All I'm saying is, I wish that everyone would put out more quality music over the quantity. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

Just take all the hardest songs from the 5 tapes you plan on dropping, and make 1 tape full of fire. #qualityovereverything
