Nelly’s hasn’t gained any more supporters since many women and church groups have been protesting his misogynistic lyrics. But now, as he prepares to perform in Jonesboro, Arkansas, many church leaders have joined forces to let him know that he is just not welcome.

Up to 20 different pastors find Nelly’s “gangsta” lyrics demeaning towards women and unacceptable for references to drugs, sex and violence and are quite upset about the rapper performing at the Arkansas State University’s Convocation Center March 12th.

The most outspoken of the group, Reverend Adrian Rogers, had this to say to MTV…
“We first heard from a concerned parent,” Rodgers said, “and we went searching online for some lyrics, and it is not what we want our children to be involved with. First, the kids said that he’s fairly tame, but then we looked it up.” “You are what you eat and speak,” Rodgers continued. “It says in Proverbs 18:21, ‘Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.’ We don’t want our taxes paying for this filth to come to Jonesboro.”

A similar situation reportedly happened when Ludacris came to perform but the show went off without a hitch.
