Ma$e has boldly announced that he will be dropping his first album in over 20 years on the opening day of Diddy‘s sex trafficking trial.
The former Bad Boy rapper shared the news on his sports talk show It Is What It Is, saying while wearing headphones: “I’m listening to the songs that [Cam’ron] picked out of the stuff I made … It’s gonna be crazy. We had to pick the right records. I let him pick the right records.”

Asked by guest co-host Maurice Clarett when fans can expect his new album to arrive, the Harlem native replied with a smirk: “May 25th. The first day of the Diddy trial. We’re dropping. You like that? You made me put it out there.”
Murda then revealed that the project will be a triple-disc effort and said: “Now we even.”
It’s worth noting that Diddy’s trial is actually scheduled to begin on May 5. It’s unclear if Ma$e will adjust his album release date to coincide with the actual start of the trial.
Ma$e did not reveal a title for the project, but it will be his first album since 2004’s Welcome Back and first full-length offering since his 2009 mixtape I Do The Impossible.
The 49-year-old also made a notable appearance on the G.O.O.D. Music compilation Cruel Summer in 2012 and previously said in 2022 that he was signing to Death Row Records following Snoop Dogg‘s purchase of the storied rap label.

Making a long-awaited return to music to coincide with Diddy’s trial would not be Ma$e’s first petty move regarding his former label boss’ extensive legal problems.
When Puffy’s homes were raided by federal agents last year, which led to him being indicted on sex trafficking and racketeering charges, the Harlem World hitmaker appeared to revel in the news.
“Reparations is getting closer and closer!” he joked during an episode of It Is What It Is soon after the raids.
When co-host Cam’ron pointed out that the raids coincidentally fell on the 27th anniversary of Biggie‘s Life After Death album, Ma$e commented: “It’s amazing that all of this would transpire on that day. That’s eerie, man! That’s crazy.”

In a later recording of the show, Ma$e explained why he had largely remained silent on Diddy’s legal issues and hinted at exposing his “Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down” collaborator in future documentaries.
“I’m saving my takes for the documentary,” he said. “If y’all wondering how I feel, it’s coming soon — pause.”
