How’s this for news; after a little over a year of “retirement” Jay-Z is reportedly plotting a return to the game. Yes…as if he ever left. Even though he has been a part of two major releases last year (with Linkin Park for Collision Course and R. Kelly for Unfinished Business) he still wore the retirement label. Now Jay has thought otherwise and will officially return to the rap game.
The Island Def Jam Music Group President has opted to serve double duty as CEO and artist. Hints of the return have been dropped sporadically. From the numerous freestyles to the recent Hot 97 visit, Hov has finally confirmed what we’ve speculated all along.
“I won’t tour, and I am taking a break, but I’ll be back,” He confessed to the Page Six Column in the New York Post. “I am planning on recording again.”
People close to Jay have speculated a new studio album could see the light of day this year. Additionally, Jay reportedly has albums from Memphis Bleek, Young Gunz and Foxy Brown lined up this year.
