“You saying my name to entertain your crew/ I ain’t playing no games, sh–, the game’s through/ You can get it broad day on Broadway while ‘TRL’ taping/ You playing a game you know you can’t win/ Quit playing them childish games with grown men.”
At first listen, these words from Jay-Z appear to be shots at Game. On Monday Jay-Z and Memphis Bleek appeared on New York’s Hot 97 and the controversy began. First when Funkmaster Flex asked Bleek about his thoughts on Game, Bleek” responded by challenging Game to “put money up in a battle on a street DVD.” Later, Jay rifled off a freestyle that many believed were shots at the Aftermath artist.
But now the tone is a bit different. Jay and Bleek appeared back at the station but now are downplaying the rumors. Jay said that the freestyle was directed to Summer. That now, since his retirement, summers will never be the same. But Jay was smiling as he made the comment. Game has since said the beef between he and Bleek was dead and has dismissed the supposed controversy with Jay.
