Hot 97’s Rosenberg To Drake: “Meek Mill Has Always Been Realer Than You”

It seems that controversy is regularly included in the price of admission for Drake and Future’s “Summer Sixteen” Tour.

The “Controlla” star has used his summer tour microphone as a megaphone to address his critics, as well as to launch some criticisms of his own. He (might’ve) sent shots at Tory Lanez in Austin, definitely dissed Joe Budden in Dallas, took shots at Hot 97 while in the station’s home of New York City, and, most recently, called Meek Mill a “pussy” in Washington, D.C. before taking more shots at his foe in his hometown of Philadelphia.

Hot 97 radio personality Peter Rosenberg clearly had enough on Monday (August 22), and called out Drake for talking the talk without walking the walk.

“[Meek Mill]’s always been realer than you..your content is MEANINGLESS” the radio host posted in a series of tweets, reigniting the animosity between his station and the Toronto rapper. “… @Drake wouldn’t have been the toughest kid in my hebrew school … stop … make hits for the club…dont try to be hard please…EVER”

Earlier this month, Hot 97 and Drake clashed after Rosenberg’s co-host Ebro Darden told a story that set off a firestorm of rumors that Eminem was about to send for Drake in a diss song. He later clarified that he’d just been joking. Drake responded during his Madison Square Garden show, saying the station was “telling lies” and also called for the firing of Funkmaster Flex, who was involved in leaking the alleged reference tracks during Drake’s beef with Meek Mill.

In Monday’s Twitter rant, Rosenberg makes reference to Drake’s early history as an actor in Toronto, contrasting it to Meek Mill’s upbringing in the streets of Philadelphia. The world (or at least the part of it watching a Canadian teen TV drama series) first caught wind of Aubrey Drake Graham when he played Jimmy Brooks in 145 episodes of “Degrassi: The Next Generation” in the 2000s.

Check out the full rant, with Ebro jumping in, below.

    1. Hot 97 is wild corny. People need to realize Drake is a master at marketing himself in the media. He’s survived every allegation brought up against him.

    2. Rosenberg just mad drake will never be at hot 97 lol get gone and hop on that L train you dream chaser along with Tory lamez……drake raps sings acts does it all he ain’t no top 5 rapper barely top 10……he is just number 1 on getting money! He claims he’s the best and he is at making money !

      1. Actually, what Rosenberg is saying is very truthful. Drake is lame for re-igniting something when countless of rappers have throwing shade at him. Drake should focus on making better music because was trash and a time to be alive was even worse!

    3. By “realer” he means “more of a scumbag”. I don’t like either rapper, both of them make trash music.

    4. He lost all credibility when he called Meek Mill a ‘great rapper.’ No, Peter, Meek is the farthest thing from a ‘great rapper.’ The guy has been in the game for a while now and still has shown no growth in his content, flow, song making abilities . . . . anything. Pull up a Meek song from 2013 and get his most recent verse and I promise you they’ll be identical. And it’s funny because Peter pushes himself as this ‘man for the underground NY scene, blah, blah, blah’ but has the nerve to call Meek a great rapper. Rosenberg is nothing more than a Hot 97 puppet; it’s sickening. I’m not even a Drake fan but Drake is doing what all rappers should do in beefs. 50 cent did it with Ja – destroyed him completely, even years after he ended his career. You don’t let up – that’s the rule.

Why call out Drake for continuing to go after Meek when Meek started this shit because he was all up in his feelings about getting a ghostwritten verse. I hope Drake never stops; he doesn’t have to. Mr. Rosenberg needs to be more concerned about his wife getting her back blown out by all the rap dudes who gas Peter up saying he’s down with the culture – haha.

      1. Um nah sounds like your Drake fan to me bruh…. I mean cmon the dick riding and all this singing shit nobody fucking raps anymore

      2. Agreed, but people cam’t turn it around and be like, “Oh why is Budden still talking bout Drake?”

    5. Oh yeah weak mill is the realist gangsta stop it please rosieberg. 6 god is King he can’t and won’t be stopped period! His music is timeless and he can bring that heat as he did with Back to Back and basically ended weak career.

      1. Fake drake is timeless just like his idols milli vanilli, they were 100% realer than fake drake, at least they could dance. Fake drake can’t dance & can’t sing-rap without someone else writing his songs & giving him reference tracks so he can learn how to rap them properly

      1. these industry niggas want drake to fall so bad! just cuz he ain;t down’ em no favours. radio doesn’t have the power it used to have when y’all started, just accept it

        1. Yea that’s true the radio is losing power….. But I challenge any rapper to quit that digital shit and sell those hard copies than we’ll see

    6. Rosenberg is no position to talk about who is real.
No position at all. another example of opining on a cultural issue for which he has no platform or standing to speak on.
just because you have a job at radio station that plays music that was born in the inner city does not give you the authority to speak on realness even if it is about drake who may or may not be “real” depending on how “real” is defined.

if meek is real – that is certainly a sad commentary on the definition of real

    7. I love how many dick-riders are quick to put Drake dick in their jaws. Bottom line: Drake is slowly falling off.

      1. umm…how? He had 4…yes 4 sold out shows (2 on weeknights) at Madison Square Garden earlier this month. Get a life.

        1. “If u go platinum, its got nothing to do with luck, it just means that a million people are stupid as fuck”

    8. Poor Meek getting bullied still by an Overrated rap/pop star while drake stays mum about 3stacks and Joey usually

    9. Drake is the best! Believe that!!! The haters know it’s true that’s why they want drake to fall off

    10. Why all the surprise? Didn’t Drake say that he was looking for revenge all summer 16? It’s a narrative that everyone is playing into. The beef is over a year old. It’s quite played out at this point. Drake is, as Jay Z called it, “a cheap imitation for these generations” but it’s working. It’s working for him. The cornball beat the gangster and is making history and having his way. Give it time and this too shall pass. Somewhere out there is the next big thing that will change the wave.

    11. Did y’all hear Meek rap about his Rolex that’s that fire! He should say something about his dental insurance that’s real hip-hop nigga lol

    12. nothing realer than being signed to the biggest fake fraud in hiphop with zero street cred who gets ran outta cities by real gangsters cancelling shows and tours #officerRicky

    13. I don’t care about what Drake stans say on twitter then goes on to write a thousand posts to rationalize views to those same stans. Weird.

    14. “After 20 years in
I’m so naive I was under the impression that everyone wrote they own verses
It’s comin’ back different and yea that shit hurts me
I’m hummin’ and whistlin’ to those not deserving
I’ve stumbled and lived every word, was I working just way too hard?”

hahahahaha Andrea 3000 killed it! DX doesn’t want to promote or discuss trending topics that make Drake look bad. “BIG L for DX”

    15. What about deaf and mute white man killed by a cop? No info!!! It is because he is white???if he was black there will be a conversation. Nobody cares about white people.

      1. Of course not. It’s a white man. It’s not stunning enough even though he had a double handicap. I read about it. Thought it was messed up but dead white people that aren’t from Hollywood don’t hit the blotters.

      1. Except Rosenberg admits this on a regular basis. He’s not trying to be someone he’s not. So it’s not really the pot calling the kettle black scenario….

    16. Dickless drake is the most ridiculous character in hip hop, only weak suckas follow this clown

    17. “I don’t remember ever dancing like that” Drake told reporters, “I don’t remember any of the filming at all. The last thing I remember before it was finished was me heading towards the studio in my car. I would never dance like that, I must have been possessed by a demon. And looking back at the video, It must have been a gay one” finished Drake. I rest my case your honor

    18. lmao all these idiots REALER. what is real being on house arrest like a fucking retard and running the streets with kids, all you kids are idiots rosenburg is a idiot

    19. Peter Rosenburg shouldn’t even be commenting on this shit. As far as Drake’s upbringing, that shit is so lame. This ain’t the 90s anymore. Rappers I grew up on spit that shit so that these kids didn’t have to grow up like they did eating out of garbage cans and shit. It’s like I’ve asked, if Jay-Z has a son or Nas’ son can spit, are you going to turn them off in 20 years because they didn’t grow up in the gutter. GTFOH.

Furthermore, that doesn’t make you a authentic. I know a lot of suckers who grew up in the streets. Drake has told his story from day one and hasn’t fudged it. He said he was on DeGrassi from day one and didn’t fudge it. Fake is saying shit like the Game, talking about you were in 50 gangs when it isn”t true as anyone can find. Also, Drake used to be in Memphis quite a bit as a young one, which Yo Gotti attested to when he first came up. Ain’t shit soft about any parts of that city. Anybody who doubts it, go down there and see how fast your ass gets twisted by some of those coked up goons. So he must have a little bit of game about himself to be able to mingle with the locals around that jungle. Houston too.

      1. If Jay or Nas son actually write their own lyrics then I wouldn’t turn them off. De La Soul grew up in the suburbs but nobody gives a fuck because they can actually spit and they write their own shit.

        1. You sure about that. One thing I know about the music industry is that they put out music by any means necessary. Yeah, Prince, an actual musical genius, had people helping him put together songs, but your favorite rappers who barely are literate basically talking over instrumentals that 9 out of 10 of them couldn’t reproduce if you put an instrument in front of them are pushing out hits all alone. When those slave record label masters want your shit pushed out, you better have that shit ready to recoup that loan they gave you to make that shit.

    20. Peter listens to officer Ricky Ross, the fakest rapper of all time who Meek is signed to. LOL
