Eminem Drops Another Surprise Album ‘Music To Be Murdered By’

Eminem has done it again. Roughly 17 months after shocking his fans with the unexpected Kamikaze album, the Detroit rap titan is back with another surprise album  — Music To Be Murdered By.

Comprised of 20 tracks, the album was inspired by famed director Alfred Hitchcock and features Royce Da 5’9, Q-Tip, KXNG Crooked, Young M.A, Anderson .Paak, Denaun, Black Thought and the late Juice Wrld, among others.

The project caps off an entertaining year for Slim Shady — well, at least for Hip Hop fans. At the beginning of the month, Em reignited his beef with Nick Cannon on the Fat Joe cut “Lord Above” featuring Mary J. Blige.

The Wild ‘N Out host fired back with not one but three diss tracks aimed as his longtime nemesis — “The Invitation” with an intro from Suge Knight, “Pray For Him” featuring Black Squad and “Canceled: The Invitation.” The latter took it to a whole other level by using the lyrics from a childish Em song called “Ole Foolish Pride,” which finds a young Shady rapping, “Black girls are bitches/Black girls are dumb.”

Aside from a pair of tweets that followed Cannon’s first shot, Shady remained relatively quiet. In fact, instead of returning fire, he recited some Souls Of Mischief lyrics and challenged André 3000 to do the same.

Music To Be Murdered By marks Em’s 11th studio album and follow-up to the aforementioned Kamikaze, which opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with over 434,000 total album equivalent units. It was certified platinum by the RIAA only a few days later.

While Em doesn’t specifically call out Cannon, he does send a few jabs at Lord Jamar, Machine Gun Kelly and more.

    1. I’m not going to lie man I’ve been criticizing Em for a while, but this album sounds very impressive so far I am listening. I can dig this Eminem

      1. I fucking hated eminem after relapse until kamikaze. Both kamikaze and mtbmb are good projects though.

I was a huge eminem stan in the early 2000’s

    2. Just finished up the last track and can say that it’s def better than Kamikaze. Has a nice blend of new and old Em with some dope features. Beats sound good too. Hooks are ehh…Still the same old Em, just a little better than the last couple of projects.

    3. I’m half way through and this is album is trash, why does he always have go with that super speedy Twista flow!???..we all know he has lyrics..

      1. Eminem is the vocal rap equivalent of an old man yelling at kids to get off his lawn. Suburban, Grandad Rap for White folk. says:

The man somehow thinks that- “If I rap really fast, maybe no one will notice how much I suck or have fell off”. Eminem is so stuck on the past that dude even rapped about how he USED TO be one of the most famous and dopest on one of the tracks on this new garbage.

    4. he should have been doing this when he first came up. instead, we got a lot of parodies of other famous people and their problems. I don’t find Eminem impersonating Michael Jackson funny. people love it though that won’t change.

      1. Real talk bro. That dude goes to Skylar Grey as if it’s still 2010. And yes, those two features is indicative of Em at this point. A old, grandfather POP rapper who makes music for White people. The more Eminem drops albums, the more he just ruins his legacy. Should have retired after Encore.

    5. Sound like Em reads comments. This album works when hes not doing that fast rap. The features and non fast raps alone makes this his most listenable album since 8 Mile.

      1. Eminem just need to retire already. This is like Michael Jordan trying to play basketball in TODAY’S NBA in his 50’s. says:

The features? Son, if you’re highlighting FEATURES on a rapper’s album, I have news for you- that rapper and his album SUCKS. Your features on YOUR ALBUM can’t be a highlighting point. A dope MC doesn’t need a bunch of artists to carry his or her album. The artist is supposed to shine on their album.

        1. Ehhhh. A Dr Dre album was all about features. I know Dre isn’t considered to be a great emcee by any standard, but he uses to sound great.

          1. This new album sounds like a very old dude tryna show the kids that he still “has it”. A SUPER DATED Fat Joe “Lean Back” reference jn 2020. says:

Um. Dude, you just made my point for me. Of course there were hella and too many features on the Chronic. You know why? Because Dre sucked (and still does suck) on the mic and couldn’t carry his own album by himself. Look at Kendrick with Damn- ONE Rihanna rapped verse. That Zacari dude sang on “Love” and a U2 feature. We all know how Cole gets down with his features for an album. Even with To Pimp, Dot had no one else rapping on there but him, save for that Snoop hook. Eminem gotta come with all of these features to complete his album. He’s a bum now.

    6. At this point you either like what he does or you don’t. It’s that simple, he’s gonna have his pop reaches, he’s gonna rap super fast most of the time and his hooks are gonna be hit or miss.

    7. If an album has 2 or 3 songs I can play on repeat, it’s a great album. Kamikaze has that and more. I’ll listen to this album when I buy it, but it’s got Ed Sheeran and Skylar Gray, so it’s probably closer to Revival than Kamikaze.

      1. Tbh i liked both the sheeran song and skylar song, i was sure i would hate them.

Also, 2-3 good songs makes an album great? Thats stupid, for instance if 17/20 songs are shit the album is shit

      1. Are u seriously a grown man who grew up with the classic eminem, that likes the new eminem? I’d be surprised… Trash

      1. Your description of the album would sound more like a 6.5. Giving an album an 8 usually means it’s a good album with a lot of standouts..

      1. I agree with you. His voice is avoiding. The beats are subpar. Where are those buffalo kids? The buffalo kids would probably outshine shady boy on his own album.

      1. Album has some tracks that will last. Yet this is not better than SSLP, MMLP or TES. Music is subjective, yet this isn’t.

      2. What lol?! Eminem hasn’t released a classic song in well over a decade. This shit is trash compared to his legendary classics.

    8. Fire album, just a little bit disappointed that there are no Griselda or Boogie features. Why doesn’t Em build up the artists on his label by having them on his albums?

      1. Same thing Jay z learned and now Em has learned. You have to build yourself up if you want to last or you will be like D12.

    9. Does he own this site because almost all the stories you’re writing are about him? Is the person writing these stories about Eminem obsessed fan or something?

    10. Always excited to see what he has to offer, then as usual, always disappointed with that annoying fast flow crap sound on shitty beats.

    11. This is terrible. Stan’s will love it, and that’s literally it. Nobody else will play this. It’s so annoying… As I type this, I’m playing great eminem song “Hallies Song”. Eminem voice sounds so fucking annoying now, the flow is predictable and nothing original… It all sucks.

    12. Why does eminem have to always rap fast, with that Twista flow? Most people don’t want to hear Twista, or fast rap… There’s a special niche for people who like that. I’d say the flow is the main reason so many can’t stomach eminem anymorme

    13. So bad! He sounds like a wannabe mumble rapper. Just shows you how far this guy would go to stay relevant. Also, all the Nick Cannon “beef” and everything makes sense now that hes out out an album. Basically he changed the one good thing about his career (his skills on the mic) and kept the annoying bs the same (pop star beefs).

    14. Wow is this cornball still talking about drugs??? How long is he sober now?? Another lot talkin, non sayin Album. Retire Dude!!!

      1. Willing to bet 90 percent of the music you listen to daily has drug lyrics in it and you sit your Goofy ass there nodding your fat head.but yet you come here and say some bs like that.come now get over yourself

    15. Terrible album as always. It is about time this dude retired instead of soiling his legacy. The is more to music than some lyrical miracle bullshit

    16. Great album. Beats are good overall (Farewell being the weakest one in my opinion), vocals are great and Em doesn’t go rapid-fire all the way – sounds like a really well-balanced mix of old and new Em. Nothing about the album really annoys me, except for the lack of Griselda features. 4.3/5

      1. Nobody wants to hear those ”my brother got shot, so that makes me a G” miserable studio gangsters from Niagara Falls rappin’ about cooking crack on an Eminem song.

    17. Album is 7/10. Better than Kamikaze, but it still has the usual problems of songs that are wack or forgettable and terrible hooks. Surprisingly his beat selection isn’t terrible this time. No songs really stand out and I doubt I’ll return to this album years from now. Good for a couple of listens.

    18. “Kamikaze” being the lashing out angry album like MMLP and “Music to be murdered by” being more creative a variable content like the Eminem show. Solid album

    19. I haven’t liked his last few albums but this one is really good IMO, beats are banging the lyrics are good and he switch his flow up on some tracks. I would love to see Em collab with Freddie Gibbs, Big Krit, Bizzy Bone or and Krayzie Bone.

    20. Haven’t listened yet…now let’s think a little bit about the politics of this release. Imagine Nick Cannon doesn’t respond to that petty Em diss on Joe’s shit…then mysteriously a month later Em drops a secret album. Em would’ve taken a major L looking like he baited Nick into a beef to promote his album, but Nick didn’t take the cheese. See Nick I told you…don’t even respond, but no, you had to go out and show the world how wack you are and made yourself look like a clown.

    21. The most toxic comment section on the internet. Nothing but hate and trash talk and negativity. Album is fire

    22. HHMMMMMMM Joe Budden is unsurprisingly missing on the I will track ft. the rest of slaughterhouse!!!!!!!!! Royce didn’t mention that when he was on the podcast!!!!!!!!!!

    23. Love the concept here.. Intro is Bananas all ways!! bt its ultimatley an average album.. No way back for him or Nas..

    24. I love when white rappers drop a project …. I just sit back and watch the racism and hate roll in lmao

    25. I think this album is exactly what we wanted from Em in 2020, forget now MMLP, and all the classics, This is a classic album, the beats are perfect and the flow is insane.

He is already 47 and the best of all time 🙂 Who else can do this at age of 47? Name only one!!

    26. A pure genius the way he tells a story no wonder Nick Cannon never got a reply the man was too busy putting a video together gun control not about taking your guns away let’s make some different laws make it harder make them take a crazy test for God’s sake something he’s a pure genius love his music love him
