New York, NY

Hours before the release of his new albumFamily Ties, Fat Joe hosted a special album listening at the Roc Nation offices in New York City.

One of the album standouts was the highly anticipated Eminem and Mary J. Blige collaboration “Lord Above,” which Joe has been talking about for weeks now. The Eminem verse, which Joe called “the most disrespectful verse,” lives up to its claim, as Em rips through the smooth Dre-produced beat.

The highlight of the track comes when Em mentions his longtime foes Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon again, rapping, “Think I just got a light bulb, something I’d like to mention/This is just on the side note/Word to the Terror Squad, Joe.”

Em continues on with the fiery verse, “I know me and Mariah didn’t end on a high note/But that other dude’s whipped, that pussy got him neutered/Tryna tell him his chicks a nut ‘fore he got his jewels clipped/Almost got my caboose kicked/Fool, quit, you not gon’ do shit/I let her chop my balls off too before I lost to you, Nick.”

Cannon’s beef with Eminem has been a back and forth rollercoaster for years now. Em has dissed him countless times on songs such as 2009’s “The Warning.”

Cannon, on the other hand, has voiced his opinions on Slim Shady in several interviews, including the August sit-down with VladTV where he called Em “Elvis on crack” and revealed he never really was into his music growing up.

In September, Cannon overtly told Eminem “I’ll whoop your ass” during an appearance on T.I.’s ExpediTIously podcast.

Family Ties dropped on Friday (December 6) and features Remy Ma, Bryson Tiller, Ty Dolla $ign and more.
