The Top 10 Most Popular Hip Hop Singles The Week Of 3/3/14

In a week that saw the release of Rick Ross’ Mastermind and Pharrell’s G I R L—and Lil Boosie from prison—a mix of slept on Eminem verses takes the top spot in HipHopDX’s Top 10. 50 Cent, who departed from Interscope and Eminem’s Shady Records last month, follows his former mentor at #2 with a video response to The Tanning Of America author Steve Stoute. Lupe Fiasco enlisted TDE rapper Ab-Soul for a Floss And Flame produced track that rounds out the Top 3.

Selections from Big K.R.I.T.’s weeklong music release campaign as well as new songs from Lil Wayne, Lil Boosie, Rich Homie Quan, and more round out the Top 10.

Shady Records Releases Mix Of Slept On Eminem Verses

On Tuesday, Shady Records uploaded a nearly five minute mix of past Eminem tracks and verses to its Youtube account. With passing plays of Eminem appearances on tracks like “Nut Up,” “Get Off My Nuts,” and D12’s “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” the short mix consolidates rare and overlooked Em contributions over the years. The first track, which clocks in as a very short snippet, was recorded in the last several years but cut from an album. “It’s been a little boring lately / I’ve been playin’ in poison ivy and pee / I’ve been itchin’ to get in some s-h-i-t / You heard what I s-a-i-d,” he raps. Listen to the collection below.

50 Cent Responds To Steve Stoute With New Video

After an initial confrontation between 50 Cent and Steve Stoute was photographed at a New York Knicks game a week ago (March 1), presumably a byproduct of Stoute’s recent comments alleging the rapper’s lack of contemporary influence, 50 Cent fired back again with a short video aimed at his former advertising executive. Stoute, who said that 50 “hasn’t had a hit in a really long time” in an interview with Hot 97 prior to the Knicks game confrontation, added that the rapper seems to frequently be promoting upcoming releases. “I mean, he has not made anything musically that’s changed anything in a very long time,” Stoute said. “And I feel like he’s always like gearing up for something that never happens. Hopefully, now that he’s independent and there’s no record company to blame, his aggressive content can get on the air.”

The video, which is titled, “When Talking Shit Goes Wrong,” uses a clip of Tupac and Omar Epps from the 1992 movie Juice in reference to footage of Stoute’s comments to deliver the line, “Don’t Get Caught Talking Shit!” Watch the clip below.

Lupe Fiasco & Ab-Soul Team Up On “Thorns & Horns”

With several single releases already under his belt in 2014, Lupe Fiasco returned this week with a feature from TDE rapper Ab-Soul on “Thorns & Horns.” While there’s no information on whether or not this is slated to appear on Fiasco’s upcoming Tetsuo & Youth release, the track finds both rappers kicking a single verse and then sharing the third verse slot for some back and forth. Lupe starts the track off with a characteristic rhymes-within-rhymes set of bars. “Read my lips, clarinet, talk that walk, pair of steps / Two shots, parachutes, two drops, pair of troops / New drops, wearin’ roofs, full bloom, bearin’ fruits / Full moon put the ‘ware’ in wolves’, apparently put it in the air and shoot,” he raps.

    1. That eminem thing isnt even official lmfao yall trippin. Did you even look up the channel that uploaded the video? HHDX fell off.

    2. 50 is irrelevant when it comes to music but when it comes to buffoonery and shiting on other Black people he will always be relevant on blogs and gossip sites…..he reminds me of one of those Black guys that hangs around a group of white guys telling them bad jokes to fit in and please them.

      1. bruh is sad that some random youtube video 50 posted on twitter got more clicks than any Ross song the week his new album came out. LOLZ

      2. Now that 50s rap carrer is over he can focus on being a buffoon full time, can’t believe this Koon uploaded pictures of Diddy to his Instagram, when an went to see the pic of Diddy he posted I looked at 50s Instagram and half the picture were of him smiling with white people so it made sense.

Diddys Instagram and Ross Instagram are normal but 50s Instagram looks like his music and looks like his fans.
