Any activity happening at any time in the Top Dawg Entertainment camp usually makes its way into the news cycle in one way or another.

Covering Billboard’s March issue, TDE members Kendrick Lamar and SchoolBoy Q talked about how they created their own success in music via their label. One of the label’s bosses, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith dropped some info on already speculated rumors and more specifics in regards to previous announcements he made.

Tiffith told Billboard that both recent signees, New Jersey songstress SZA and Chattanooga, Tennessee rapper Isaiah Rashad are expected to release debut label albums this year. Ab-Soul and Jay Rock are also expected to drop LPs. Perhaps the biggest news that came from the interview however was the announcement of what is supposed to happen this September–the release of Kendrick Lamar’s sophomore studio album. Top Dawg also indicated that Black Hippy as a group could be releasing a joint album in 2014, which comes as a surprise as Ab-Soul told Hip Hop Wired in 2012 that such an album would “never, ever” come to fruition.

“Today is probably more important than when good kid, m.A.A.d city came out,” TDE co-president Dave Free told Billboard. “This is our proving ground to show the world that wasn’t a fluke – that TDE isn’t just one artist. Kendrick isn’t the only one in our stable that’s going to blow up.”

Previously, Top Dawg Entertainment relayed that SZA’s album would be “coming soon” via Twitter. A Kendrick Lamar album was rumored to be slated for release in 2014 but had no specifics on when that would be. The same goes for albums from Ab-Soul and Jay Rock. Top Dawg also said back in December that there would be six TDE albums released in 2014.

Yesterday (February 28), it was announced that ScHoolboy Q is expected to land in the #1 spot on next week’s Billboard 200 albums chart. Oxymoron, ScHoolboy’s major label debut album, which was released on February 25, may sell between 150,000 and 160,000 copies by the end of the tracking week, according to reports. The official numbers are set to be announced March 5.
