Kanye West is expected to drop Donda 2 — the sequel to the August 2021 original — on Tuesday (February 22). But apparently, it won’t be available on any digital streaming platforms and that goes for Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube and Amazon. Instead, dedicated fans will be forced to order his exclusive stem player.

Ye made the announcement on Thursday (February 17) via Instagram with the caption, “Donda 2 will only be available on my own platform, the Stem Player. Not on Apple Amazon Spotify or YouTube. Today artists get just 12% of the money the industry makes. It’s time to free music from the oppressive system. It’s time to take control and build our own. Go to stemplayer.com now to order.”

Kanye West initially announced the stem player last August. The idea was to allow fans to be able to customize tracks with the ability to control drums, vocals, bass, samples and more.

For those who ordered the $200 stem player received their product in October 2021, according to various social media posts. The first iteration featured all 27 cuts from Donda and three new songs, including the André 3000-assisted “Life of the Party,” which Drake leaked on his SiriusXM radio show in early September 2021 at the height of his reignited rivalry with Kanye.

Kanye West Redirects Instagram Ire Toward Perez Hilton While Claiming 'TMZ, Page 6 & SNL Are A Gang'

Anyone following Kanye’s social media behavior over the last few days is likely relieved to hear him talking about anything other than Pete Davidson, who’s currently dating his estranged wife Kim Kardashian. He took a short break on Thursday when he aimed his vitriol at celebrity blogger Perez Hilton and Saturday Night Live but continued going after the SNL actor for old sketches making fun of his mental health issues.

As previously mentioned, Donda 2 is expected to arrive on February 22, the same day as his Miami listening event. But, of course, it’s all subject to change.
