Cardi B‘s “WAP” was one of 2020’s biggest music videos with cameos from the likes of Kylie Jenner, Mulatto and Rubi Rose, but it didn’t reach 325 million views and receive a HipHopDX Best Music Video of the Year nomination without a major budget behind it.

In the early hours of Wednesday morning (January 13), the Bronx rapper began the topic of music video prices with a tweet revealing her breakthrough “Bodak Yellow” visual cost $15,000 to make in the United Arab Emirates.

“Fun fact : Bodak yellow music video cost me 15 thousand dollars,” she said on Twitter. “I was in Dubai and I said ….I gotta fly picture (videographer) out here …BOOM BOOM BANG ! Ya know the rest .”

When a fan replied saying it was a lot of money, Cardi clarified it actually wasn’t much compared to her later videos, with the Megan Thee Stallion-assisted “WAP” costing a massive $1 million, “Please Me” with Bruno Mars totaling $900,000 and “Money” setting her back $400,000.

Cardi B continued to answer fan questions about the price of music videos, saying Invasion of Privacy‘s “Be Careful” was roughly $200,000 and Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 2‘s “Foreva” was around $8,000 in 2016.

As for “Lick” off 2017’s Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 2 mixtape, the price was only $15,000 but Offset had a ludicrous $40,000 wardrobe fee that she felt she needed to pay. At the time, Cardi B wasn’t married to the Migos member.

“I think like 15K,” she answered to a fan. “Offset had a 40K wardrobe fee for videos so I had to pay it out my pocket cause I didn’t wanna look like a small artist with a tiny ass music video budget …..I told him like a year later.”

She also revealed the 21 Savage-featured “Bartier Cardi” cost around $150,000 and admitted she was concerned about her belly when filming due to being pregnant with her daughter Kulture.
