Los Angeles, CA

The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards got underway at the Los Angeles Staples Center on Sunday night (January 26). While there was undoubtedly a cloud hanging over the arena in the wake of Kobe Bryant’s shocking death, the show went on as scheduled.

Nipsey Hussle has won a posthumous Grammy Award in the Best Rap Performance category for “Racks In The Middle” featuring Roddy Ricch and Hit-Boy. It marks the slain rapper’s first gilded trophy.

The honor was accepted by several members of his family, including his grandmother who thanked the crowd for “showing all the love” for her grandson “that I have felt for him all of his life and will always live in my heart, so thank you.”

Elsewhere, 21 Savage and J. Cole picked up an award in the Best Rap Song category for their collaborative single “A Lot,” while Tyler, The Creator took home the award in the Best Rap Album category for IGOR.
