Did Target Accidentally Reveal Eminem’s “Revival” Release Date?

Eminem fans, particularly those on Reddit, are constantly searching for information about Slim Shady’s new album, Revival. Oddly enough, they may have received the most definitive detail so far from an unexpected source — Target.

A Twitter used reached out to Target, via its customer service Twitter, after obtaining a photo from a store that shows a placeholder for a deluxe edition of Eminem’s highly anticipated LP. The rep behind the Twitter account responded by stating that the company has a December 15 release date listed for Revival.

“We’re excited for the release date for this album to come,” the account tweeted. “You probably already know, this date is controlled by the record company and is subject to change. What we currently have is a street date of December 15, 2017. Thanks for connecting with us.”

The @AskTarget account quickly changed its tune though. When asked later for some confirmation about the release date, it was much more coy with its answer.

“Currently we don’t have an official release date, so please be sure to check back for additional details. Thanks!

A previous report by HITS Daily Double claimed Eminem’s album was expected to drop on December 8.

(The original version of this article was published on November 21, 2017 and can found below.)

Much to fans’ disappointment, November 17 came and went without Eminem’s new album, Revival. Although the date was mere speculation to begin with, it quickly circulated around the internet as that magical day Hip Hop fans would finally get a Slim Shady album, his first since 2013’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2.

Now, the same site that initially sparked the rumor is back with another projected release date for Em’s ninth studio album. According to HITS Daily Double, Revival will hit the shelves on December 8.

“U2 is now expected on 12/1 and Eminem is believed to be coming on 12/8,” the post reads.

Although Shady’s camp hasn’t confirmed a particular date, the release of Em’s latest single, “Walk On Water” featuring Beyoncé, his recent appearance on Saturday Night Live, a rare interview with Shade 45 and the limited edition “Stan” merch all indicate a project is on the horizon.

It’s difficult to determine why the rollout is taking so long, but one clever Reddit user pointed out that “Walk On Water” is no longer being promoted as Revival‘s lead single on Em’s website. On November 10, it said the song was the “first single from his forthcoming album” and now, that part has been removed from the description.

Some are speculating the team is back to the drawing board.

Whatever the case, get ready for December 8 when fans can either rejoice or be let down once again.

    1. It’s honestly good to see that the weak attempt at a radio-friendly single that relied heavily on a major female pop star flopped –
and to all the phaggot stans that were supporting it and saying how amazing it was, TIME TO WAKE THE FUCK UP – THIS CONFIRMS IT WAS TRASH. Hopefully this discourages him from selling out any further. Plenty of kids these days don’t know who the fuck Eminem is so they’re not going to blindly go out and buy any garbage he releases. Release a good song full of insults and homophobia that doesn’t rely on lame features.

      1. it was a true and honest track of his thoughts at the moment. it’s a strong track and you can’t say beyonce didn’t do great, she’s definetly not a “lame” feature! beyonce is one of the best singers out there, you can’t deny that.
but you can’t fulfill all expectations (as he stated in the song).

the only thing you can critizise is that it was a radio-friendly… but ey, there are more than just this track on the album. lyrics are dope and i bet the album will be too!

        1. Beyonce, Pink, Rihanna, Skylar Gray – all fucking lames that don’t belong on an Eminem album. It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if he got Taylor Swift on his next single attempt he’s that desperate for approval from teenagers that have a vague idea of who he is. And shut the fuck up saying it was a strong song with amazing lyrics and a great feature from Beyonce – it was trash from start to finish and that’s why it flopped hard.

          1. But, it hasn’t flopped hard. It’s #2 on digital songs, debuted at number 14 and it’s a top 10 hit in England.

The song isn’t weak by any standard. The lyrics actually have weight to them. He’s delivering actual content that have a meaning behind them. You can’t really say that with most mainstream rappers nowadays.

      2. Remember when he made songs like Role Model and Cum On You… LMAO.. Eminem has dabbled too much into social justice and political correctness these days it has become hilarious to listen to his old music. Sellout? You might wish there was a word much deeper and less used to describe the hypocrisy and downfall, but his music and recent social activism outbursts are enough to speak for themselves…an absolute joke.. –

    2. The ghost of Bill Clinton is back to tease all the teenie bopper SJWs drooling over the possibility of more anti-america rhetoric written by Hillary Clinton spouted through the mouth of this frail, feeble looking ,soulsucked, mainstream media darling known as Eminem. Damn Em, you got in bed with the wrong people…And now look at what is left, the sad, phosphorescent skeleton that once was a critic of pop culture, the establishment, and the elite.

    3. I’m a huge eminem fan and I’m losing hype for this. Just fucking release the damn thing already. And he’s done too much of the pop hook thing ever since 2010 pretty stale now

      1. *Jevv World Order. Rosenberg a jevvish name too, Jimmy Iovine jevvish too. He is surrounded by the people who worship at the synagogue of satan!

    4. Em would be smart to release a limited edition physical package, otherwise sticking to itunes, keeping the shit off every streaming service, minus the singles, and trying to make as much money as possible. Walk On Water is lackluster, truly. I’m not sure who it’s meant to connect with?

      1. Walk on Water is for Macklemore fans, and pretty much teenagers, mostly in the suburbs and rural communities of middle America. Yawn.

    5. Walk on water was a song about perfectionism, expectations an fear.where all trying to live up to something……I think it’s funny when people say they can’t relate to the song

      1. His lyricism is amazing. The fact that he still thinks he’s not good enough when his wordplay is unmatched just shows that he’s eccentric and losing his mind.

    6. funny, a reddit user?????…. some dude on twitter mentioned it on 11/17 that walk on water may not even be on the album…..but whatever floats your boat… u guys are becoming like complex jr… can you please get us some exclusives???? not for nothing you guys are covering all the bases of nah right and complex… i remember when DX was it’s own site.

    7. Maybe circa 97-2005. He’s fallen off and you’re lying if you think so. CyHi has way better wordplay as does Chino Xl and Copyrwite…Crooked I too. If you really cared about “wordplay” or punchlines you’d listen to them…

    8. What gets me is why fiddy not on the album??? I would love to hear him and Em 2gether rather than a Dre Beat…..It’s no wonder Dre didn’t produce one song on the album. Everything he been coming out with has flopped from Compton to I need a Doctor to Kush!!!! Guess he trying to save face since he don’t want to look bad as a super producer with Beatz by Dre but he edoesn’t really make music anymore. Neither Kendrick nor Em need Aftermath. I been sayin Em should go on it on his own like Jay Z and get all the dough!!!

      1. We don’t know for sure he’s not on the album as there’s no track list.

Def agree with him parting ways with Dre. Probably won’t out of loyalty.

    9. If record sales are down who cares nobody is buying this trick, music sales have flat line along time ago along with the No talent that exist today

      1. MMLP2 did around 700,000 non-streaming sales in 2013. He’s one of those artists that always sells a ton regardless of current sales trends.

        1. He just told half his fans to fuck off. I highly doubt he is able to do that and still sell a shit ton, not in the current sales climate for music.

    10. Who gives a shit the album going to be garbage anyways just like his last 3. Who da hell still cares about a wack ass Eminem album in 2017 ..I guess all them 45yr old stans..So All u stans can ask ur mommies to get it for u for Christmas.

    11. I need a young thug feature on this album. I know y’all are gonna kill me for saying that but I know that shit would work. All that lyrical shit is overrated, I need some classic em, something to bump cruising down the road.

      1. It’s “their”, not “there”. Those two words have two very different meanings. Also “fucking”, but what would you know or care about doing things right in the first place, though. 🙂

    12. Removing walk on water from the album is a smart move. The song isn’t bad, the Beyonce feature just didn’t fit well. (Ps love the way you lie with Rihanna was a monster record don’t hate). Haven’t listened to a full em album since recovery, if he keep pushing the album then lets expect some wack shit as usual. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

    13. hey dx… you guys are welcome for exposing u to this on twitter. yall couldve shouted me out man damn lol
