Troy Ave appeared in court today to officially plead not guilty to felony charges of second degree attempted murder and three counts of second degree criminal possession of a weapon.
At the hearing, a date of July 1 was set for his bail hearing according to Billboard.
The BSB rapper showed up in a wheelchair because he had been injured in both legs in a shooting that occurred May 25 at a concert at New York’s Irving Plaza. Ave’s lawyer, John Stella, said that a bullet entered and exited his client’s right leg and a bullet was lodged into his left leg.
Two other people were injured in the shooting and Ave’s friend, Ronald “Banga” McPhatter was killed. Surveillance video captured the rapper firing shots outside a green room at the venue. Ballistics tests by the NYPD report that a gun found in the van that transported the rapper to the hospital matched the murder weapon. Ave was arrested May 26 on attempted murder charges and has been at Rikers Island since. He was indicted by a grand jury June 9.
