Ciara has been crowned the queen of Crunk N B, but now she plans to take things a step further and spit a few bars on Missy‘s upcoming album. She will find herself alongside Missy on what is planned to be the first single off of Missy’s next album. “Missy made me do it,” Ciara said to MTV. “It sounds weird right now, but I’m just doing a little bit. I hope it’s OK, but I trust her.”
Jay-Z continues to stay the busiest man in hip-hop by becoming active in his new role at Def Jam. He has just completed signing some of his first acts, 17-year-old Tierra Marie and 16-year-old Rihanna. Tierra will be releasing her debut via Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam this spring and will be executive produced by Sean Garrett, who’s responsible for hits like “Lose My Breath” and “Goodies”. The Barbados-based Rihanna is finishing up her debut and getting set to release the single “Pon de Replay” and will be produced by Vada Nobles who assisted with Grammy winner The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
The Source magazine is attempting to make moves even though their staff is going through a major shake up. Editor in chief, Kim Osario, has been replaced by Joshua “Fahiym” Ratcliffe while the magazine searches for a managing editor. So in the meanwhile, Benzino and David Mays have joined Al Sharpton’s 90-day radio/TV ban for artists who embody violence. Mays said in a statement to MTV. “In no way does The Source support the censorship of hip-hop artists, but we are opposed to artists and their backers that use acts of violence or the incitement of violence over the public airwaves to promote record sales.”
