Doechii is feeling beyond grateful after her hero, Ms. Lauryn Hill, brought her out to perform a duet of “Doo Wop (That Thing).”

On Saturday (March 8), the Fugees legend surprised the crowd at the Jazz In The Gardens Music Festival by bringing out the Swamp Princess for a rendition of her 1998 classic.

Sharing a video of the performance to X afterward, Doechii sang Ms. Hill’s praises as she gushed about the experience.

In a second post, she added: “I never been so nervous in my life [crying emoji] she is a QUEEN”

Doechii’s star has continued to rise rapidly following her major win and electrifying performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards last month.

At the ceremony on February 2, the TDE rapper became just the third female artist to win Best Rap Album following Ms. Lauryn Hill in 1997 (as part of the Fugees) and Cardi B in 2019. She also delivered one of the standout performances of the night, running through a medley of “Catfish” and “Denial Is A River” that further showcased her electric stage presence and theatrical, finely-tuned choreography.

Hours after her Grammy win, Doechii celebrated her historic night by dropping a new song that nods to a classic Kanye West moment at the awards show.
