C-Murder, whose real name is Corey Miller, has a judge’s decision to grant him a new murder trial overturned by the Louisiana state appeals court. Without a new trial, the stage is set for a sentencing hearing for the No Limit artist and Master P’s brother.
He faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole stemming from second-degree murder. A charge he may still appeal. The incident in question happened 2 years ago at a nightclub in New Orleans where Miller shot 16-year-old Steve Thomas to death.
A new trial was ordered by State District Judge Martha Sassone. She stated that the prosecution withheld valuable information and some of their key witnesses had criminal records. It looked as if a new trial would happen but the judges of the 5th Circuit Court of Appeal in Gretna, La did not agree with the decision.
Even with the things cited, 2 of the 3 judges felt that “there was an abundance of other evidence which fully established Miller’s guilt” according to Billboard.com.
