Shyne’s Def Jam debut Godfather Buried Alive apparently hasn’t moved as well as Def Jam would have liked and according to high-level sources over at the label, they are planning to abandon the project.

With all of the hype surrounding the incarcerated emcee, many thought the album would do great numbers. Unfortunately, the album has only sold 354,000 units to date and a dismal opening week of 158,000 The extensive media blitz, Vibe cover, MTV specials and rumored beef with 50 Cent did not add up to remarkable album sales as expected.

All the work Def Jam put up for the emcee($3 million bidding war) has seemed to blow up in the face of the label. With the current sales trend (an abysmal 15,000 units sold last week) things don’t seem to be looking up.

All the While Shyne has stated that he wasn’t in it for the sales.
