Filipino rapper Paul Cassimir returns with a searing political commentary in “Gutom” (Hunger), produced and arranged by OG Pinoy hip hop group Sun Valley Crew’s Juss Rye.

The Owfuck member tackles physical and metaphorical hunger—as a basic need and as a palpable clamor for social change. The collaborative track aims to “speak for the voiceless… [outlining] a critical outlook on how authorities manipulate and maltreat the very people they swore to serve.”

The track was released a day before the Philippines’ 124th anniversary of Independence after 333 years of colonization from Spain. A somber video directed by BJ Tangcob accompanies the new track.

“Gutom” follows last month’s Rjay Ty-assisted “Dama Mo” (You Feel). In April, Paul Cassimir and his fellow Owfuck members performed at JRLDM’s live album launch for the latter’s debut record, Mood Swing.
