Uncle Luke – born Luther Campbell — is thinking about changing his name to Congressman Campbell as he ponders entering a local race against an incumbent in his local Florida district.

In an interview with The Bulwark that ran on Friday (March 29), the 2 Live Crew legend explained his decision making process regarding a potential run for incumbent Democrat Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick’s 20th Congressional district seat.

He said: “I’m living my ideal. I have the opportunity to bring something back to the community…And I get to fight these motherfuckers.”

He clarified that those “motherfuckers” include: “Matt Gaetz, Donald Trump, and all these crazy-ass Republicans who want to divide us.”

He concluded in the most Uncle Luke way imaginable: “I’m gonna be as nasty as I wanna be.”

In anticipation of his bid, Campbell established a political committee in January called Don’t Stop Get It Get It.

“Campbell has had informal conversations with political consultants in South Florida to help run his primary campaign,” reports The Bulwark. “He has also been followed around by a Los Angeles-based documentary film crew, whose name he’s keeping secret for now.”

Campbell said he’ll decide whether to run before April 26, the race entry deadline in the state of Florida. The primary elections are set August 20.

Despite his political aspirations, Uncle Luke has not been censoring himself regarding his cultural opinions.

Earlier this month, Campbell conveyed his support of Diddy, claiming that the embattled mogul’s lawsuit against Diageo is the root cause of all his ongoing legal woes.

During an Instagram Live stream, the 2 Live Crew leader shared his thoughts on the multiple sexual harassment lawsuits filed against the New York City native.

“When you get your billions, and they put you on a pedestal, that’s because they put you up on a pedestal,” he began. “They made you the guy. They place you on every network. They sold you to all y’all on here. […] They put you up on a pedestal because they need you. It’s like some pimp shit.”

He continued: “Your mama say, ‘Never bite the hand that feeds you,’ and so this is how the major corporations work. When you try to come after them.

“Now you put a lawsuit in. Bam! Fuck that shit, I’m suing their ass. I’m taking their company down […] This man cost that liquor company billions of dollars!”
