Quavo has released a new song dedicated to his late nephew and Migos groupmate TakeOff following his tragic murder in November.

Titled “Without You,” the tender, somber track finds Huncho pouring out his pain over TakeOff’s death. “Tears rolling down my eyes / Can’t tell you how many times I cried / Days ain’t the same without you / I don’t know if I’m the same without you,” he sings.

Featuring an intro from Dream Chasers singer Vory, the song also captures the Quality Control hitmaker reminiscing on happier times with his partner-in-rhyme, from “smoking big blunts” and performing at Coachella to growing up in Atlanta’s Northside together.

The nostalgia soon leads to yearning, though, as Quavo mournfully croons: “I wish I had a time machine / So you can take a ride with me / Wrap my arms around and hold you tight, Phew / So you can never say goodbye to me.”

“Without You” comes accompanied with a one-take, black-and-white music video showing the Migos rapper sat in a chair in the studio smoking a joint with his eyes closed, deep in thought.

“Long Live Take Infinity,” Quavo wrote on Instagram on Wednesday (January 4) while sharing the song. Meek Mill, Busta Rhymes, LeBron James, Ty Dolla $ign and Mike WiLL Made-It were among those who offered their love and support in the comments section.

“Without You” marks Quavo’s first musical release since TakeOff was shot and killed outside a bowling alley in Houston, Texas on November 1, just weeks after the duo released their joint album Only Built For Infinity Links.

According to police, the 28-year-old (real name Kirshnik Khari Ball) was an innocent bystander to a “lucrative” dice game involving Quavo and other men. An altercation broke out during the game, leading to multiple shots being fired.

TakeOff was pronounced dead at the scene, with the Harris County Medical Examiner’s autopsy report later revealing he was killed by “penetrating gunshot wounds of head and torso into arm.”

A 33-year-old man named Patrick Xavier Clark was arrested and charged with TakeOff’s murder on December 2. Clark, known in Houston as DJ Pat, was linked to the crime by surveillance footage showing him firing a gun and a wine bottle left at the scene containing his fingerprints.

Despite reportedly attempting to flee the country after the shooting, Clark has maintained his innocence and was released from jail on a $1 million bond on Wednesday (January 4).

Following TakeOff’s death, Quavo penned a heartfelt letter on Instagram bidding farewell to his close relative and collaborator.
