Despite the presidential supporting backlash received from Fat Joe last week, Daddy Yankee continued on his campaign for nominee John McCain during the Republican National Convention on Monday.

Headlining the “Fiesta Americana” concert at MYTH night club in St. Paul, Minnesota, Yankee subsequently made the event a fundraiser to benefit people affected by Hurricane Gustav, with all proceeds being distributed to the Red Cross Relief Fund.

Knowing very well the circumstances during a crisis like that of a hurricane, Daddy Yankee felt it was only necessary to give back, whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican. “I know that there are a lot of people who would like to do what they can for those who will be in need of assistance in the upcoming days and weeks,” he told the Boston Herald.

Daddy Yankee continued, “My heart goes out to all those who have been affected in the Gulf Coast, as well as those in the Caribbean islands. It’s important for everyone to pitch in, and I’m proud to be involved in this effort to provide aid.”
