Diddy got a dose of school spirit when he made a surprise visit to the Capital Preparatory Charter School in New York City on Tuesday (October 18).
The Bad Boy mogul shared footage of his visit on Instagram, showing the students buzzing with excitement as he made his way into the auditorium. Diddyco-founded the school in 2020 and donated $1 million to its opening.

The children erupted once Puff walked through the doors, and he gave almost everyone in the room a high five. Some of the students performed a dance routine for Diddy before he took center stage to deliver a speech about how proud he was of all the children.
“I surprised my students at @CapitalPrepBronxtoday,” Diddy captioned his Instagram post. “This is the 3rd school that I’ve been blessed to open. My dream has always been to provide children, in communities like the Bronx, the high quality education they deserve. We are grooming future leaders that will change their communities and the world!!#DiddyBackInTheCity.”

Diddy opened Capital Prep alongside educational speaker Steve Perry to serve underserved students from sixth grade to ninth. The school currently has 200 students enrolled and there are plans to facilitate 700, with the aim of adding an additional grade in the future.
Puff and Perry have two other campuses in Harlem, New York and Bridgeport, Connecticut, which have given thousands of students a chance to learn since their openings.
That wasn’t the first time Diddy has donated such a large amount to the advancement of Black education. He pledged the same amount to Howard University in 2016 to set up a scholarship for students needing financial aid.

Fellow New York giant JAY-Z also recently dived into the education space when he and Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey launched The Bitcoin Academy in June. The program aims to bring modern-day financial literacy to the hood, teaching courses on Bitcoin and cryptocurrency.
The school had its first graduating class in September and the business partners offered each graduate $1,000 in the digital currency at the school’s graduation ceremony.

“At tonight’s graduation class, @sc and I offered each student a grant of $1,000 in bitcoin,” Dorsey tweeted at the time. “Students can save, spend, or send their bitcoin however they choose to keep investing in themselves.”
