Bronx, NY

Sean “Diddy” Combs is continuing his efforts to provide more kids with a good education. The Hip Hop mogul has announced the opening of a new charter school in the Bronx and pledged $1 million to the endeavor.

“I know from my own experience that receiving a great education makes a huge impact on a child’s future,” he wrote on Instagram. “I want our kids to have access to everything they need to succeed, in school and life. Which is why I’m also pledging $1,000,000 to help give our kids every advantage possible.”

The new charter, which is part of the Capital Preparatory Schools network, will launch in 2019. Diddy previously helped to found the network’s first charter school in Harlem.

According to a press release, the Bronx location will open for 160 students in the sixth and seventh grades. Once running, the school will aim to expand to 650 students in grades six through 11 over a five-year period.
