Tyler, The Creator celebrated the fifth anniversary of Flower Boy on Thursday (July 21) by reflecting on his “favorite moments” on the album.
In a tweet to his 9.5 million Twitter followers, the GOLF le FLEUR founder showed love to tracks like “Sometimes…” and the closing three-song run of “November,” “Glitter” and “Enjoy Right Now, Today,” as well as more specific parts such as Estelle’s bridge on “Garden Shed.”

The album as a whole clearly holds a special place in Tyler’s heart. “flower boy changed everything for me, thank you all for your ears,” he wrote in another tweet.

Tyler, The Creator continued the fifth anniversary celebrations on Instagram, sharing a slew of videos of the album’s creation and its rollout on his Instagram Stories.

Among them was a rehearsal of “911/Mr. Lonely” with Steve Lacy and Anna of the North ahead of their performance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, his Flower Boy interview with comedian Jerrod Carmichael, and clips of A$AP Rocky, Frank Ocean, Jaden Smith and others recording their guest vocals in the studio.
Tyler also reposted a text message exchange with Pharrell where the N.E.R.D hitmaker congratulated him on “911/Mr. Lonely” topping Spotify’s Viral 50 chart.
Featuring appearances from Lil Wayne, A$AP Rocky, Frank Ocean and more, Flower Boy marked a commercial and critical resurgence for Tyler, The Creator following the lukewarm reception to his previous album, 2015’s Cherry Bomb.

The project debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 — Tyler’s highest-charting effort at the time — and was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 2018 Grammy Awards. It has since been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
