Washington D.C. – The 2022 White House Correspondents’ Dinner brought together the biggest names of the political world, but a few Hip Hop icons also stopped by the soirée, including Fat Joe, D-Nice and Mary J. Blige.
The Terror Squad captain hopped on Instagram with Blige and D-Nice so they could recite their favorite Fat Joe quote in unison. They were joined by Rush Hour’s Chris Tucker, Independence Day actress Vivica A. Fox and esteemed civil rights attorney Ben Crump.
“Ohhhhh WHAT A NIGHT,” Fat Joe wrote in his caption.
Fat Joe attended the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on behalf of Power To The Patients, an organization dedicated to helping hospital patients and their families comprehend the financial obligations that come from big medical decisions.
“So much love at the White House today,” Fat Joe wrote in another Instagram post. “@powertothepatients_ representing the people patients need transparency.”
Fat Joe recently starred in a PSA for the organization earlier this month in which he spoke about how patients across the country are being criminally ripped off by corporate healthcare insurers simply because they’re uninformed of the law.
“Right now millions of people are getting robbed, and not by the guys you might think, but by hospital and insurance company executives,” the “All The Way” up rhymer says in the video. “They crooks because they manage to hide hospital prices from all of us. When we can’t see or compare prices, hospitals charge us whatever they want. They robbin’ us. It’s corporate greed, it’s not even legal, but no one is enforcing that law.”
He continued, “We love our nurses, we need our doctors, but the big business behind ’em is breaking our backs. So to all you politicians letting ’em crush us, you breaking my heart because you broke your promise to the very people you swore to protect. It’s time for you to step up and enforce this law. Their corporate greed is devastating patients and their families. Hospitals are obligated to show us their prices, and we demand ’em.”
