HipHopDX Premiere

Vanderslice is back with his Trendsetter EP. The seven-track effort features guest contributions from G Perico, Ty Farris, Vic Spencer, Daniel Son and Capo.

In a press release, Slice explained he had “like 20 or 30 loops at [his] disposal, all gutter, all in the same vein” as he plotted the project. After he narrowed it down to his seven favorites, he personally linked with each MC with the intention of staying true to his pure, raw rap aesthetic.

“It’s mission critical to maintain my identity,” Vanderslice said.”Our sound is less is more and we don’t follow the trends, we’re setting the trend.”

Standout tracks include the previously released “Cold Winter” and “Barry White Shit” with Perico.

“‘Barry White Shit’ was a blessing,” Slice explained. “We were fortunate to catch G Perico right before he took flight. The beat is just a loop with bass under it, it’s gritty, and it’s a side of G you rarely hear.”
