Nominations for the 2019 NAACP Image Awards were announced on Wednesday (February 13). Hip Hop not only received recognition in the music categories but also earned nominations for its contributions to film and television.

Beyoncé and JAY-Z, a.k.a. The Carters, have been nominated for three awards in the music categories, including Outstanding Album. Queen Bey also received a solo nomination for Entertainer of the Year.

Kendrick Lamar’s work on Black Panther: The Album got him nominated for three music awards too, but Kung Fu Kenny was able to snag a fourth nomination as an actor. K. Dot is up for Outstanding Guest Performance in a Comedy or Drama Series thanks to his appearance on the hit show Power.

Donald Glover, a.k.a. Childish Gambino, secured three music nominations along with a few more for his FX series Atlanta.

Other notables nominations include Tory Lanez for Outstanding New Artist and The Coup’s Boots Riley (writer/director of Sorry To Bother You) for Outstanding Writing in a Motion Picture (Film).

The 2019 NAACP Awards are scheduled to take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California on March 30. The ceremony will air live on TV One.
