Bobby Shmurda still has over 20 months left on his prison sentence, but he seems to be handling it as well as one possibly could imagine. Leslie Pollard, Shmurda’s mother, provided another update on her son after visiting him at the Clinton Correctional Facility in New York over the weekend.
“Great visit with my stinky…..the count down continues 22 months to go,” she wrote on Instagram. “Chewy is in great spirits he sends his Love and he can not wait to be back to work.”
Shmurda was arrested on a myriad of charges, including conspiracy to commit murder, in 2014. He eventually agreed to a plea deal in 2016 and was sentenced to seven years in prison. He was credited with nearly two years of time served though, allowing his parole to come up in 2020.
In a 2016 interview with Complex, Shmurda said he agreed to a harsher sentence to help his friend and collaborator Rowdy Rebel. According to Shmurda, prosecutors originally offered him a deal for five years.

“They offered me five and offered Rowdy 12,” he stated. “They said the only way they’ll give him seven is if I took seven too. So, you know, I had to take one for the dawgs.”
