Despite Kanye West’s claims, students at Chicago’s School of the Art Institute won’t be getting a Yeezy-taught course. SAIC public relations director Bree Witt put an end to the rumors sparked by Kanye’s recent tweets.
“We’re flattered that Mr. West would have an interest in teaching emerging artists and designers at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago,” Witt said in a statement to the press. “However, Mr. West is not currently teaching at SAIC, and at this time, there are no plans for him to do so.”
Kanye prompted speculation about his move into academia via Twitter on Sunday (September 9). He also referenced teaching at the American Academy of Art, which is located in Chicago.
“I will teach a course at the Art Institute of Chicago and the American Academy of Art,” he wrote.

According to Chicago’s local ABC affiliate, the American Academy of Art has refuted Yeezy’s teaching claims too.
Kanye appears to have a renewed interest in his hometown of Chicago. Last week, he visited the Stony Islands Art Bank. He also tweeted about plans to bring a Yeezy office to the city and reopen the Avalon Regal Theater.
