Nipsey Hussle Suggests DJ Akademiks Needs A Smackdown

Los Angeles lyricist Nipsey Hussle wasn’t a fan of recent comments DJ Akademiks made about 21 Savage, and he made his thoughts on the matter very clear during a recent appearance on the New Hip Hop News podcast.

Nipsey explained that he felt Akademiks was bashing Savage for embracing positivity.

“They said recently that 21 Savage said that he stopped buying jewelry and that he gonna spend his money on investing. You know, that’s a powerful message,” Nipsey Hussle said. “For somebody that people follow and that’s from a younger generation. And Akademiks criticized him and said, ‘I don’t want to hear nothin’ but killin’ and ‘I’m about to kill the opps.” And he like ‘I don’t want to hear that from 21 Savage.'”

The rapper then suggested that Akademiks needs to be “fucked up” for the offense.

“That shit right there get you fucked up,” he said. “And we supposed to fuck niggas up for that. Period. It ain’t supposed to be understanding. We supposed to catch you at ComplexCon or wherever you at and we supposed to spank you for that. And you supposed to learn ‘I was wrong.'”

Akademiks has since attempted to defend himself on Twitter, stating that Nipsey (although he didn’t refer to the rapper by name) is dissing him merely because he’s promoting his new album.

“The ole diss Akademiks cuz I’m on a promo run trick. Can’t wait to drop my parody album and diss myself . Run up the sales,” DJ Akademiks tweeted on Wednesday (March 7).

Just 30 minutes after Akademiks’ tweet was sent, Nipsey responded directly to his promo run remark.
