Atlanta news reporter Fred Blankenship and traffic reporter Mark Arum once again showed off their Hip Hop knowledge with a tribute to Rakim for the MC’s 50th birthday (January 28). Throughout the broadcast, both reporters, who work for the ABC affiliate WBS-TV, swap lines taken from some of Rakim’s best known material, including Eric B. and Rakim’s “Paid In Full,” “Microphone Fiend” and “Don’t Sweat The Technique.”
Arum shared the video to his Facebook page on Monday (January 29) shortly after the tribute aired. The caption read, “Happy 50th to the legend Rakim from two of his biggest fans, me and Fred Blankenship!”
Blankenship and Arum have made a habit out of injecting Hip Hop lyrics into their reports since their tribute to A Tribe Called Quest’s Phife Dawg went viral in 2016. Since then, they’ve honored fallen Hip Hop legends like Prodigy, The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur.
