The rap world was rocked last week when burgeoning emo rapper Lil Peep died of an overdose at just 21 years old. In addition to the seemingly endless roster of artists expressing their condolences, Lil Uzi Vert is also reeling from Peep’s death and appears to be taking steps to change his lifestyle.
In two Twitter posts posted on Thursday (November 16), theLuv Is Rage 2 rapper expressed empathy for the battle Peep was fighting — addiction — and alluded that he was struggling with the same thing.
“We Would love 2 stop ….. But Do You Really Care Cause We Been On Xanax All Fucking Year,” Uzi wrote. “Rip Buddy I 100 % Understand and I Don’t Fault U.”

“Sober 2 day I have been shaking,” he added. “I have been cursing my love ones out and fighting. In the studio with no thoughts in my head. Teeth biting down because I just wanna be angry at something …… maybe I will just smoke weed tonight.”

In the wake of Peep’s death, more and more people are speaking out about the addiction epidemic, a far cry from the way drugs are often glamorized in the entertainment world.
