Like a 1995 Monica, Nicki Minaj appears to be having “just one of dem days.” On Wednesday afternoon (October 25), the self-proclaimed Black Barbie took to Twitter to comment on the work she’s put in over the last decade and the lack of respect from her male peers.
Minaj began her tirade with, “In any field, women must work TWICE as hard to even get HALF the respect her male counterparts get. When does this stop?”
She also claimed that legendary MCs have only collaborated with her because “someone pulled a gun to their heads.” She references Drake, Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole while illustrating her point.
“The greats collaborated w/Drake, Kendrick & Jcole b/c they’re dope MC’s,” she wrote. “They collab’d w/nicki cuz someone pulled a gun to their heads.”

She added, “Putting ppl in the same sentence as me after my 10 years of consistent winning. What are you teaching THEM? They’d never do this to a man.”
Next, Minaj unearthed a K. Dot tweet from seven years ago that read: “Just realized. Moe niggaz hate nicki minaj than woman do. #yallniggazisreallypausewhenithinkaboutit.”
Minaj explained she thought his words were prophetic in a follow-up tweet.
“Kendrick’s tweet from 7 years ago,” she wrote. “This is so telling. And scary. I’d have to wear some baggy pants n timbs for men to openly give props.”

Finally, she closed her tweeting streak with a photo of herself and the caption, “An announcement is on the horizon. I wanna see you wearing this.”
Over the course of her career, Minaj has put out three mixtapes, three studio albums — including 2014’s double-platinum album The Pinkprint — and has appeared on countless singles. She’s become one of the biggest female rappers in the history of the music industry, so it makes sense she wants credit where credit’s due.
