Big Sean has been passionate about helping resolve the water crisis in Flint, Michigan not only because he calls Detroit his home, but also because his mother experienced lead poisoning.

In a recent appearance on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Sean Don explains the current situation in his home state.

“I just know it’s not even close to being over,” he says. “That situation, it wasn’t even a natural disaster. It was something that should have been prevented and could have been prevented. It’s just disgusting to think about the damages that these families and kids have to go through.”

He reveals that he’s donated about $100,000 to Flint through his Sean Anderson Foundation. It’s been previously reported that he raised $50,000 for an initiative called #HealFlintsKids, which he kicked off with $10,000 out of his own pocket. In addition to the financial contributions to the community, Sean has a neat tribute to the town on his upcoming album, I Decided. The final track will feature the Flint Chosen Choir.

“Just to reach out and show some support from that side, too creatively,” he says of having the choir on the album. “It’s a song called ‘Bigger Than Me.’ Once you hear it, you’ll see why I wanted them to be on that. I was just happy to have Flint be a part of my album in that way.”

Another prominent feature on the follow-up to Dark Sky Paradise is Eminem. The G.O.O.D. Music signee says Slim Shady brought a “brand new energy” to the project.
