Brooklyn, NY

Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave will have the opportunity to celebrate the new year from the comfort of his own home and not a hospital bed now that he’s been released from Brookdale Hospital.

A day after Troy Ave was shot in the head and back, he was able to walk out of the hospital in Brooklyn last night (December 26).

In video footage the New York City rapper uploaded to Instagram, he can be seen exiting the hospital with police officers and close friends.

Although Troy was released from the hospital, his lawyer informed the New York Daily News that he still has bullets lodged in his head and back.

“He is very sore,” Troy Ave’s lawyer, John Stella said. “The doctors told the family that he came dangerously close to having a spinal cord injury — but it looks like there’s no lasting damage from the wound track.”

While on his way to visit family on Christmas Day, Troy Ave was shot twice by an unknown shooter. The rapper was sitting in his Maserati with his girlfriend when the shooting went down.

This week’s shooting comes less than one year after Troy was shot during an altercation at a concert at New York City’s Irving Plaza.

The lawyer added that the most recent shooting could be connected to the Irving Plaza incident.

“My guess is probably it was related. There clearly was animosity in the green room incident, but he’s never had a long list of enemies.”
