Usher’s new mixtape song “Ride” has hit mixtapes but there’s something very familiar about it… the instrumental is exactly the same as J.Lo’s hot single “Get Right.” “Ride” was left on the cutting room floor of the Confessions sessions, but the song bears an eerie resemblance to “Get Right” in more ways than one.
Both songs are club jams as Usher sings…
“I’m wondering what you’re feeling tonight/ We never chilled, we never spent no time/ So let’s take a minute/ … Show you what I’m feeling inside/ Baby, hold on, tonight we’re gonna ride.”
But then the song takes a familiar twist when the bridge comes in…
AD LOADING...
“So much we’ve got to say, but so little time/ And if tonight ain’t long enough, don’t leave love behind/ (Don’t leave this man behind)/ Baby, take my hand” in the same flow as J.Lo.
According to both parties, the song was scrapped from Usher’s album and producer Rich Harrison handed it over to J.Lo. But the problem arises when parts of the bridge in “Ride” are used on “Get Right.” Now Usher seeks publishing credit for the usage of the bridge. We’ll see where this one goes.
