“Literally, [DJ Quik] cut the tape on my record,” Murs explained. “He can splice tape, he can mix – I remember the dude we were in [the studio] with…was trying to tell us, ‘You can’t do that’…this is an engineer just out of school, he thinks he knows everything about the room, and Quik went [and patched it himself]. I was like, ‘Whoa’ – but [he] wasn’t arrogant about it; [he] was like, ‘Alright, I told you and now I have to show you ‘cus you think that I’m a rapper that doesn’t know anything’…he knows all the out board gear.”
