It looks like British based record label BBE Soundsystem has brought together the worlds of Hip Hop jazz and funk music for a new project. Brooklyn-born DJ Spinna will now head an upcoming collection of 60s and 70s music.
According to a recent press release, Spinna and BBE will be linking up for an upcoming collection of New York labels Perception Records and Today Records. Despite an original line-up the likes of the Fatback Band, Dizzy Gillespie, Black Ivory and more, both labels only ran for five years before closing 1974.
In other news, news of the death of the Beastie Boys’s MCA a/k/a Adam Yauch has hit the world Hip Hop hard. Now, MTV pays its tributes to the fallen Beastie with a new tribute broadcast.
Earlier tonight, MTV aired an hour-long segment titled “Adam Yauch: Remembering a Beastie Boy” live from its Times Square at 8 PM. The live event founds Hip Hop luminaries the likes of Biz Markie and host Sway Calloway paying homage to the recently deceased emcee.

Finally, Audio Stepchild is preparing to release their follow up to 2001’s Land Of The Snake Charmer. After eleven years in the making, the Louisville, Kentucky collective is finally prepared to drop their sophomore project Every Coincidence is Significant this May 22.
According to a recent press release, the group linked up with Hoopla Worldwide/WIDEawake Entertainment for the album. Guest features on the project include members of Nappy Roots, Tha Chill of Compton’s Most Wanted, Jayo Felony, Knoc-turn’al, Nasim, MC Breed, Roc Raida, Sabrina, Staxx N Waxx, Big A LTA and Illuminati Sky.
