Persevere Our Legacy, a non-profit organization dedicated to bone marrow transplant awareness, recently announced that they had name the Diplomats’ Freekey Zekey as one of the organization’s celebrity spokespeople. Freekey first became involved with the charity organization this past October when he hosted a bone marrow drive for LJ Jones, a 10-year-old suffering from Hypereosinophilic Syndrome. He has since starred in a series of Public Service Announcements for the organization (see below).

“I am honored that I can make a difference in so many people’s lives, not just children but men and women of all ages,” he said. “I encourage everyone that is in my position to influence, mold and shape thoughts to take a proactive approach to bringing this subject to the attention of millions.” (AllHipHop.com)

Freekey’s involvement with Persevere Our Legacy comes right on the tail of the death Shannon Tavarez, the 11-year-old star of the Broadway production of The Lion King who passed after fighting Leukemia. The Diplomats emcee said it’s cases like Tavarez’s that make it clear why this cause is so important.

“Shannon Tavarez was only 11-years-old when she was taken, only 11 and at the height of her career,” he said. “Her death and others won’t go in vain. We will preserve your legacy.” (AllHipHop.com)
