Although the pairing of rapper Jay-Z and Betty White on last Saturday’s (May 8) episode of Saturday Night Livewas an unlikely pairing, the duo attracted impressive ratings for the weekly sketch comedy show.

According to Entertainment Weekly’s Hollywood Insider blog, the episode featuring White and Jay-Z drew in the highest overnight ratings Saturday Night Live has seen in about a year and a half.

Nielsen reports that the episode averaged an 8.8 rating/21 share among 56 local markets.

During the episode of Saturday Night Live Jay-Z kicked off his performance with a medley of songs including “P.S.A.,” “99 Problems,” and “Empire State Of Mind.” His second and last song was the Blueprint 3’s “Young Forever.”

Aside from special guests Jay-Z and White the show also featured the return of the shows female alumni including Maya Rudolph, Tina Fey, Molly Shannon, Amy Poehler, and more.

Finalized ratings as well as viewer totals for Saturday night’s episode will be available this Thursday, May 13.
