Redman Admits He & Method Man No Longer Hang Out: ‘My Circle Is Very Small’

Redman has revealed he doesn’t kick it with his longtime collaborator Method Man when they’re not working – but it’s still all love between them.

Appearing on a new episode of the Julian Dorey Podcast, the New Jersey legend was quick to say “Hell no!” when asked whether he still hangs out with his How High partner.

“We do shows and we come back home,” he explained. “I don’t hang out with a lot of rappers at all. This is work, this is home. We’re very inclusive with our movement. Once we’re off the road, we’re like, ‘Alright. You got family to deal with, I got shit I gotta do.’ My circle is very small. So we all have different lives. I don’t hang out with rappers. I might call.

“There’s a lot of MCs who I’m connected with. Of course Wu[-Tang Clan] is my crew or whatever, but there’s a lot of artists that we might chop it up on the phone – but no. The only artists I hang out with is my boy DoItAll from Lords of The Underground and Treach if I see him in the hood and that’s about it. And Kid Capri. Kid Capri is my big bro. I talk to him and go see him all the time. But he’s not a rapper though. He’s a DJ. One of the best.”

The convo begins at the 1:55:31 mark below.

As it pertains to work, though Redman would love to get back in the booth with Method Man for Blackout! 3 – but Meth has other plans.

Sitting down with Red Bull for their Red Bull Spiral series in November, the pair discussed their storied careers and what they’d like to do next.

“I want to do a Blackout! 3, Maybe like 12 songs,” Red said.

Meth replied: “We are not even focused on no Blackouts! or any of that shit right now. Brother, we are focused on this TV and movie stuff and producing as well. We’ve got to get these stories out there.”

The duo dropped their platinum-selling debut album Blackout! in 1999, a commercial success that launched at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with 254k copies sold. Blackout! 2 followed 10 years later, which also saw a top 10 debut.

Since then, fans have eagerly been awaiting a third installment – and at one point, it appeared to be a reality.

During an interview in 2014, the pair alleged Blackout! 3 was coming in the next few months.

However, that clearly didn’t happen, and the pair have since moved on to other ventures. For Meth, that namely includes acting, and he now has over 100 credits to his name.

    1. This shouldn’t be surprising, I don’t hangout with the people I’m around 8 hours a day/40 hours a week either.

      1. That’s not really what he seemed to say here. More so that it’s just business and they’re pretty much acquaintances who work together. I’m not surprised though. It’s like how people expect “cheech and Chong” to be real life buddies who chill and smoke together.

    2. Meth & Red will always be connected via rap. They still tour and do shows together when they can but they’re 50+ year old men with their own families and lives. You’re naturally doing your own thing at that age.

    3. I don’t hang out with my friends like that. We talk on the phone and text but no we don’t hang out on a regular. Plus Meth and Red seems to be involved with many things. They aren’t 25 years old anymore!

    4. I hate reading this. I like to think they hang out together 24/7 smoking pot, cracking jokes and murdering beats.

That said, I understand fully. The two are on the road together prolly every few weeks and the older you get the less free time you seem to have to casually hang out wit the homies (not to mention you also start to appreciate the quiet lone time more).

      1. Dusty Ass N-words – nothing to see here, just another female raised nobody thinking her opinion matters.
